Glad videos like this still exist so that the haters can be pointed in this direction when they try to argue that wall has never been good and never deserved his contract, even before the severe injuries took place. Also I’m thankful for a video on YouTube about walls supermax deal from the wiz. While anyone must admit that until wall returns from rehab and proves he is still the same player, his contract is the worst, but people get it twisted an try to say that the injuries have nothing to do with walls contract being the worse in the league and that he never deserved it in the first place. Well, thanks to that video, I can point the haters to PROOf of what I always contend and argue: that when the wizards offered Wall the supermax after his 2016/17 historic, top 6/7 MVP finish and ALL-NBA season, not only did no one, including the media, infer that the wizards were making a huge mistake offering Wall the max, but in fact the truth is that the media was debating “is it true that Wall might turn down the wizards offer? Should be really take it? Should he commit to a team that might not be able to surround him with enough competence to make the most of his amazing ability??” Lol. Wall even waited a couple weeks after the offer was made, and he was vindicated in doing that, because he along with many others around the league didn’t know if it was a good idea for him to commit the wizards long term. No one said anything about him not being worth it. Actually, it was an example of why the supermax was created: to give players on bad or lesser teams in the league more of a reason to stick around and try to bring prosperity to the teams that drafted them. Once Wall signed the overall narrative was that it was a HUGE win for the wizards. Some said wall woudl have been better off going into free agency as he would clearly get max offers left and right from teams possibly better situated to help him have more winning success, but overall it was said that it was a win for the wiz and a win for wall, seeing that he was able to get more money from the wiz than anyone else could have offered, not to mention the wiz were coming off their best season in 40 years and SO close to the eastern conference finals so it did seem that maybe the wiz were going to be able to surrounded wall with enough talent to reach the finals. Clearly in hindsight, due to continued terrible management and horrible Injury luck as well as an aging roster, the wizards haven’t been able to get back within a game of the ECF, but you can’t judge all contracts legitimacy at the time of signing them based on how things play out 2/3 years later. At the time of this deal, everyone knew wall deserved it and the wiz were lucky to lock him in
