Algebraic Number Theory 21 Number Fields and Discriminants

In this lecture we prove two propositions. One which relates the discriminant of a generating set of a submodule to the index of that submodule. The other proves that the trace bilinear associated to a finite separable extension is non-degenerate. This is section 2.7 on discriminants in Milne's notes on algebraic number theory.
