Good to have a lecturer that can speak English that I can understand. A lot of speakers are of Indian or Pakistani origin and their accented English is difficult to understand.

Hmm, right or wrong? At the end of the Gene Cloning lecture (Lecture 1) there is a quiz with one question (a match type question). The good professor, Thomas Mennella, who by the way delivers an excellent well thought-out gene cloning lecture, has answered the question as follows:
"Antibiotic resistance gene" was matched to (d) "confers ability to grow under certain conditions" AND
"Selection marker" was matched to (f) "confers ability to grow in the presence of antibiotic"
My thinking was a flip-flop of the above (not to say the good professor was incorrect) as my answer was as follows:
"Antibiotic resistance gene" was matched to (f) "confers ability to grow in the presence of antibiotic"
"Selection marker" was matched to (d) "confers ability to grow under certain conditions"
Now, if push comes to shove I do put a bit more weight in my answer, however if one were to really scrutinize the professor's answer you can certainly make an argument that the professor is also correct .... after all the professor, given his gift at teaching, should clone himself so he can teach at multiple institutions ... given the preponderance of lousy biochem and genetic teachers we all have had. Amen.

Thanks. This is by far the best, most concise lecture I have ever heard. By the way, I like a florescent marker in my vector just as a backup in case one of by bacterium is already AB resistant and grows in the presence of the AB. If it grows but doesn't floress, then I know it was already mutated to withstand the AB.

Sir, you are the best to me! I couldn't even understand any words which was taught by my teacher although they try their best to expound their lectures. Owing to your molecular cell biology lecture, I felt extremely enthusiastic about my major study. Best wishes to you. I recommended my classmates your videos and they felt enjoyable like I did. Hope all good things will come to you! God bless you Sir.
P/s: I know it's hard but may I ask you do me a favour? Can you upload your lecture which explain mechanisms of Flow Cytometry and some other technological techniques, Sir? Thank you by all my heart. Much love from Vietnam.

Hello Dr Thomas Mennella. Thank you so much for your efforts. Is there a lecture in steps of DNA and RNA extractiom (purification of nucleic acids) please? My university explains in local language instead of English and I am International. You will save my life Dr 🙏🏻

Dear Professor Mennella,

Thank you so much for your engaging and informative lectures; they are a true highlight of my learning experience, especially this latest one. I have encountered a small issue, though—I can't seem to locate the continuation lectures (lectures 2, 3, and beyond). Would you be able to point me in the right direction, please? Your help would be immensely appreciated as I am keen to follow through with the entire series.

Warm regards,

Zhiwar Hassan
