Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens Test Video

Test video of the Canon 100mm F/2.8 Macro USM Lens (non L series). Filmed with the Canon Rebel T4i DSLR camera. Ideal for close up and macro work. How to shoot macro with your DSLR camera.

This lens is normally used for photography work. However, since we needed some extreme close-up shots for an upcoming review, we decided to film with this Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens. We were extremely impressed with this Canon macro lens. The image quality is very sharp. The long 100mm focal length produces very nice depth of field (DOF) and out-of-focus blur in the background. The manual focus ring is smooth. The lens is on the heavy side (1.28 lbs), but manageable with a sturdy monopod or tripod.

can someone who has this lens tell me how far you have to stand from the subject to have their head and chest in the shot? i would like to use this for filming my videos but not sure how far away I will have to set up the camera & if it will work in my space. thanks

Great work. Grade A+ Quality. You have helped me in my research on the telephoto side of the focal length spectrum. My hypothesis is that 100-200MM is better on faces for both photo and video work.

VasseurBeauty Depends on what camera you are using. But it's not too far even with crop sensor, (around 12ft, and closer with full frame). This is a great lens for both outdoor and studio portrait.

Could you please help me out which lens I can pick for Canon 6D.
I have Canon 18-55mm and 55-250mm lens in my hand, I am just normal user I love to take photos with blurred background of long shots and I am going to pick one more lens for my 6D so which one I can go for it?
1) Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
2) Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
A) Which is better in from your experience?
B) Also please give which one is better based on my requirement

0.00-0.55 are you hand held or ur shoulder rig? seen not so wiggle for the video eh
