I loved this song, I used to try to sing it and of course garbled the words because I don’t speak Japanese. My mother absolutely hated this song and I didn’t figure out why until I was an adult. She lived thru WWII as a child and heard all the hateful propaganda against the Japanese . I guess she still believed it . I was born years after the war was over and to me it was just a nice song . I finally learned the words about 10 years ago there’s a YouTube with the words translated and the Japanese in the alphabet
