2:13 I wish they would have kept black in base a bit longer. He obviously didn't need Rose to take down Vegeta based on that kick. I loved the idea of an OP Evil base Goku.

Just after this part is when the Arc starts falling apart as far as writing and power scaling. Black goes Rose but its doesn't seem like he's drastically stronger than Base. Yes he won, but he was winning anyway. If he was so strong in Base, SSR should have been able to simply blink away Vegeta and Goku. If i was rewriting this arc, i might have skipped having black and zamasu fuse, and replaced fused Zamasu with a proportionately scaled SSJ1 or SSJ2 Black. If they had scaled things off of Base Black, SS2 would almost need Beerus to intervene.

Vegeta played rock-paper just to not let Goku fight only to get humiliated again

it actually makes sense for goku black to be as strong as SSB vegeta in base. you see, Super saiyan rose isnt black’s super saiyan blue form. it’s an altered version of super saiyan. in other words, it’s just black going super saiyan. if it was his SSB form he would be millions of times stronger than vegeta. this applies both to the anime and manga. so it makes sense for his base form to be as strong as blue vegeta and then when he goes SSR he gets a 50x multiplier. it also makes sense for super saiyan blue to be better than Rose by a TON. It’s just that black was so strong in his base that his altered super saiyan form could match blue goku and blue vegeta. black would be massively OP if he went super saiyan blue
