People saying she is wrong. I don't know how embarrassing it would be if we host the Olympics and end up not winning at least 5 gold and china taking everything. Imagine how embarrassing it would be. First we need to better facilities for athletes and games. We are suffering in that only by not having proper infrastructure. We need to win at least 50 to 60 medal to consider about Olympics. In the meantime it's better for us to improve ourselves.

Yes you are right miss. But you know the real reason why countries bid for the Olympics despite the cost overheads etc is - "Corruption".

Politicians use this opportunity of cost overun to make money for themselves. So a stadium costs 3, 000 crores on paper even when the actual building is 1k, the rest 2k Cr goes in their pockets.

India's Medal tally between 1900 to 2012 was 27, but in between 2016 to 2024 it's risen to 42, HENCE 27 Medals in 112 years & 15 Medals in 8 years shows Improvement and India should be winning atleast 50 Medals per Olympics season by 2032 so that We would win atleast 75 in 2036, The Govt. I am a bjp supporter, but I tell you I am STRICTLY 1000% against hosting any Olympics.
1) It's a waste of money. Since 1984 EVERY Olympics is a loss making one. Everything that you think Olympics can bring like more tourism, investments, soft power, etc can be easily done by investing a lot less into that sector. Far less infact. Also, Olympics no longer have any significant impact on tourism and investments.

2) India has literally A 1000 BETTER OPTIONS to put that money into. We can invest it into creating more industrial parks, advanced manufacturing subsidies, uplifting the poor, education, health, research and development, supporting our deep tech start ups, infrastructure, and most importantly, defence, space & nuclear technology. Our ISRO can do wonders if given even half of the money of hosting the Olympics.

3) We are currently VERY bad at Olympics, imagine how embarrassing it would be if we hosted the Olympics and china won the most or 2nd most medals. We can invest that money into building sports infrastructure and a sports ecosystem in our country that is like that of Australia, USA, or Japan. These countries win most medals in proportion to their populations.
