Rohlíky, the famous Czech bread rolls that look very similar to French croissants, are an old Czech tradition. Legend has it that the crescent shaped bread rolls were invented in 1683 to mock the Ottoman Empire for failing to invade Vienna.

In this episode of "Baking Bread", DW's EU correspondent Georg Matthes explains how to bake the crescent shaped golden bread rolls, and how Czech politicians greased their way to the top.
