Back in my youth when I worked as a cashier at various establishments I would always keep my eyes open for older coins and bills. I scored some nice stuff that I still have to this day decades later. Nothing super valuable but some decent stuff.

It's not a "counterfeit" coin. It is an "altered" coin.

Starting with just 55k two months ago and reaching 290k today feels incredible. Liliana Ronald, your guidance and insights have been instrumental in this journey, and I’m deeply thankful for your support and knowledge.”

The good news is if she still has it now (in 2025), it’s worth about $7 in silver.

The jeweler who put that S on that quarter is a master. Silver solder has copper in it and turns dark faster than silver, otherwise nobody would have known.

I have a wheat penny from 1909, a buffalo nickel from 1935, and a silver dollar certificate from 1935 in my collection from my cashiering job, among various foreign coins that get used. It’s fun to just sit there and imagine what kind of history those coins/bills have seen.

I love how intense Rick gets when talking about forgers. Its like he is going to fight them.

It's still a decent coin from the first batch of Washingtons.
Worth keeping, just worth 10 bucks not 1000

It’s not the longest running US mint products. Lincoln cent starting in 1909.

I was told by someone in the coin business that a friend of his that owns a coin shop once got stiffed by a customer who came in one day looking to sell a 1909S VDB and a 1955 DDO Lincoln cent. Both were raw. The customer was asking $1500, saying that although he knew they were worth much more, he needed the money. Taking a gamble, he purchased them for the asking price, since they both looked real good. Later, when he sent them in for authentication, both were deemed counterfeit. Buying a raw coin that is considered rare is always a gamble.

A 1932 in Gem MS65 is still a $200+ quarter.

We got a 1932 D in change at a gas station sometime in the early 1960's in the Eastern U.S. when I was a kid, but its condition is so poor, it's practically illegible. I've never seen an old silver coin that looks like it's been wire brushed. Maybe somebody took a dislike to it when they saw it. It was the first year of the Washington Quarter Dollar. I am not even sure if it's a 'D' or an 'S' mint mark.

When I was in grade school (late 70's) I asked my lunch school cashier to save my any coins 1964 or older for a project I was doing. She had NO IDEA that those were silver coins. 6mo later when she realized, my 'project' was ended by her. She had to admit that I was smart, though.

The (shocking appraisal) gave me the assumption that their was gonna be some kinda offer made in this one, probably could have been titled differently..

They only made 400, 000 so it's extremely rare
