"Close your eyes and adjust your grip until you can sense where the blade is, you'll find the blade instead of it finding you." Thanks Chef

The knife knows where it is, but cause the knife knows where it isn’t.

I do this, I'm a line cook. Never once had it roll. I don't even push down on that finger, I use that finger to measure how much resistance the tip of the knife is experiencing before deciding how much pressure to apply. Helps when you dont have your own knife belt and have to use the house knives that your coworkers mess up by hitting bone and crap. We have 4 straight edge blades and only one holds an edge. So if you see someone doing this a lot, they probably are used to working with crap knives.

I like how he says you have to stop holding it like that. Then at the end of the video, he says if you know what your doing and for really precise cuts, its ok. So, what he’s saying is good chefs do it. Gotcha.

Actually no one taught me to hold the knife like that... I think it's just my conscience that made me hold the knife like that

The reason I look when cutting, isnt for the hand holding the knife. Its for the hand holding what im cutting.

You didn’t even have to look, because you know exactly where you’re finger use to be 😂

"Don't ever do this. It is bad. Just only do it sometimes. It's okay"
Bruh you went full spectrum on that point you tried to make.

The handle on my knife isn't circular, but it's adorable that you think you know otherwise

Hey guys, you hold the knife however you feel most comfortable and feel like you have the most control. That's what is important. If it doesn't feel right to you, don't do it 🤷‍♀️

I feel like I'm the only one who puts my thumb on top of the knife.

Idk dude, we have been literally taught in culinary school that the plade where youre meant to hold a knife is... the handle, no finger on the spine, no fingers on either side of the blade.

Yes your right. But find something to put on your index finger for the amount of callous you'll put it through if you have a long prep list
