Satellites are not our most precious assets. God is, faith is, truth is, and love is. After that, we can live without television and internet access, even phones, BUT it would be much harder to live without any form of power, electricity, propane, natural gas, coal. Without those things people connected to city water and well water and with no other way of getting water could die within 3 or 4 days and certainly couldn't live much longer than that without water. That is water. A source of home heating and cooking is another thing. Also, people who flush toilets in their homes when there is no water incoming to refill them can be harmed by the gases that can enter the home, an enclosed space, when there is no water in the toilet to prevent that. So much we don't know about living with power that can kill or harm us.

One doesn't need weapons to disable satellites. For example, the 'explosion?' of Russia Kosmos 2499 recently created an active orbiting debris field. Broken into 85 visible pieces, and many other too small to be detected. Remember an object the size of a screw traveling at an orbital velocity would cripple a US satellite. Just the type of maneuver Moscow would undertake to lay the groundwork for either a strategic, or tactical theater nuclear strike.
