Solid recap. Yes, I believe that North Carolina had an excellent plan once they adjusted to what our team was able to do: taking this team (Michigan State) out of their element, speeding them up greatly, & turning their (North Carolina) defense into offense on the other end. I thought that points off of turnovers was a big factor for North Carolina in this game & Michigan State had no answers for it. Additionally, Izzo was a bit lax with timeouts to stem the tide, during that massive North Carolina run in the first half that swung the game in North Carolina's favor. Michigan State was good, at times, on defense, but were limited in what they could do on offense. & North Carolina was solid defending with their press. In conclusion, North Carolina did just about everything right to win this basketball game & deserved to win it. So my hat off to them as a proud Spartan fan & good luck.

It's 4 years not 5 on the Howard-Izzo comparison.

In 2019, right before your comparison starts, Michigan State made the Final Four. In 2020, Michigan State was the regular season Big Ten Champion and Big Ten Tournament Champion and was rolling in Winston's senior year when the NCAA Tournament was cancelled.

The fair thing to say is that Michigan has won more games in the NCAA tournament than Michigan State in the last 4 tournaments. Michigan made the final and a Sweet 16 before Beilien's recruits were gone and the Michigan program abruptly collapsed missing the tournament in back to back years. I'm happy to say that I would gladly have U of M's NCAA Tournament record from the last 4 years than Michigan State's (A play-in loss to a Final Four UCLA team, a Sweet 16 loss to Kansas State, a second round loss to a Final Four Duke team, and a second round loss to North Carolina).

But don't besmirch the beautiful memory of the Cassius Winston era.

Michigan state is who they have been all year long.
The same team that can go an entire quarter of the game without scoring. (Tom needed to call a time out 4 minutes earlier)

MSU was on a high after beating Mississippi State, but in reality Mississippi State was a great match up against an incredibly overrated SEC.

Tom goes to the portal to get a center this year, you can put it in the books.
