I remember my cousin owning the original NES and playing Duck Hunt, Top Gun and some Ninja Turtles game. My other cousin owned the Sega Genesis and man did I have fun with Sonic, Streets of Rage and Mortal Kombat. That is where it all began for me. Not my top games just the beginning of my gaming life. I remember going to the corner store and playing Street Fighter and some Bart Simpson skateboarding game back in the 90s. I want to go back to those days.

King Koopa captured Princess Toadstool. the character names were changed over time... back then we called them "Goombas" and I suppose even more old school players called him "Jumpman" (see Donkey Kong) rather than "Mario." I loved Super Mario Bros. 2... and so did all my friends, it was only forgotten when SMB 3 came out

Thank you for this video. If I were to say what was the most impactful videogame experience of the 90's it would be super Mario 64 which brought the masses from 2-D to 3-D and became the benchmark and blueprint of every 3-D game that followed it.

violent and risque video games existed before, I think the main reason for the controversy in the 90's and media attention was that the graphics were attempting to be more lifelike with digitized graphics (even video) as opposed to most other popular games of the time that were more like cartoons (and typically way more violent than the slapstick Looney Toons that were still shown on regular tv with minimal censorship) and marketed to teenagers who had an appetite for more 'mature' themes. as often happens, that probably increased interest in those games. Of course the realm of PC games was entirely different than consoles, and you had all manner of mature themes and content going on

Ranking the games you mentioned
Super Mario World- Hadn’t played, but what I have seen looks pretty good and has a massive impact on the game industry.
Tetris- Fun puzzle game that somehow still holds up 40 years later.
Portal- THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!
Metal Gear Solid- Great for the reasons you said.
Goldeneye- I only played a simulation of the game, but it sounds and looks pretty awesome (both as a game and Bond fan).
Pac-Man (Puc-Man)- I have an arcade of it. It’s really fun.
Street Fighter 2- Like it
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past- Never played, but heard that the series is pretty awesome.
Pong- Simple, but fun.
GTA3- Like the open-world aspect, hate the violence and morality.

Good list overall! My favourite game is Super Mario Galaxy personally, but I am a little surprised Super Mario 64 didn't make it onto the list in terms of revolutionizing the games industry. But, all the other choices were great nevertheless
