10 video game franchises that lost their identity is a proper title for this video game

Sorry, I have to disagree with the Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider entries. The Square Enix trilogy was excellent, and I felt it did her justice. I liked they gave her an actual story and didn't just make her eye candy.

I ❤ still the whole ‘Mortal Kombat’ franchise, especially the original version; MK2; the 2011 reboot; and MK11: Ultimate.

Insane that in only 11 years we went from Black Ops 2 (My personal favourite game ever) to the this horrible DLC that they are charging full price for. Played yearly COD releases as my main games for almost ten years, now I don’t dont even have it installed on my pc. WOW

Call of Duty is full of Furry skins, Nikki Minaj and fucking Gundams.Multiplayer has been dead for years but MW2 and Black Ops 2 was gold. The younger kids will never understand how good it used to be

I only like the classic Tomb Raider series (TR1-AOD). I know that Angel of Darkness was rushed and didn't meet expectations but to me that was the last true Tomb Raider game for me.

Dishonorable Mentions (and honestly, THESE should've made the list instead):
*Team Fortress 2
-IT. HAD. EVERYTHING! So what went wrong?
One: Matchmaking. Remember when joining a match was as easy as a click and a few seconds? The new system makes you wait for minutes before you can even join one. Somethimes the wait takes so long, you get disconnected anyway. And if you leave, you won't be able to join back or even risk getting suspended.
Two: Barely any updates and lack of new content. There are tons, TONS of content that fans are practically gift-wrapping for devs to use in an official update! Now yes, there IS new content in the game. We got stuff like contracts, Jungle Inferno (It's arguable Valve only added this update due to competition from Overwatch at the time), and new Halloween and Smithsmas maps. Then after a while, they kinda just left it once again.
Three: BOTS! EVERYWHERE! The source code got leaked. So what comes next? Armageddon. The servers are swarming with bots with perfect aim and instakill weapons, spamming hate speech, and advertising anti-bot software that's actually malware.
Four: Valve's negligence. Even with all of these issues, Valve barely does ANYTHING about it. They just leave the game dormant for years as it slowly destroys itself. For a while they just rest on their laurels expecting people to enjoy what's already there, they left like 5 people to keep it on life support. And even after years of nothing and getting updates later, the story is always the same.

"That's it? That's the new TF2 update? They didn't even fix the bot problem!"
"What a rip."

All we can do is that Valve finally gets their shit together and see what they must do to improve. No one wants to see these guys become the next Bethesda.
*Warcraft 3
-This inferior remake effectively forced all existing copies of Warcraft 3 to update to the new version. Meaning you can never play the original version as it was, EVER. AGAIN!
And guess whaaaat? Blizzard didn't learn their lesson. Because they did it AGAIN with Overwatch 2! They're basically saying [This next quote is said in an impression of South Park's version of Mickey Mouse] "Either you play THIS version, OR NOT AT ALL!" At the end of the day, they just ended up being inferior versions that no one asked for that was forced upon them. When the only way you can get people to play your game is at gunpoint, IT'S NOT GONNA BE WELL LIKED! AT ALL!
*World of Warcraft
-It's sad to say that World of Warcraft, once the god king of MMOs is now a shadow of it's former self. Everything changed when Activision merged with Blizzard, after a few expansions and Legion being one the best ones, it's follow-up expansion, Battle for Azaroth, would signal WoW's fall from grace. Though I will say that it's not entirely that expansion's fault, it was just the perfect storm. The sexual harassment lawsuits, the mediocre writing for the expansion, the endless busywork that would also plague Shadowlands, and of course, the MMO that surged in popularity as WoW's fanbase shriveled: Final Fantasy 14. Had it been only one of these issues, WoW would've recovered it's public image sooner or later, but the actions of the studio and having a worthy competitor ready to take it's place, meant that even one failure would've cost the company quite a lot.
*Hello Neighbor
-A weird case of undulation. The alpha was loved, the release was hated, then reviews came back up and now no one knows about it.
