Any chance you could do a video on what life is like during phase 2 training? Theirs tonnes of info and videos about phase 1 but not as much on phase 2.
Thanks for all the helpful content! Started training and I'm planning on applying next year!

I like the idea of access to gyms and sports etc. How often are you allowed to go on adventures per year?

A Rupert here, I can attest to the qualifications. A SSgt in one Troop has a Masters in Six Sigma. He shared a passion for production line workings and several proposals for efficiencies that saved the Corps a great deal of money. The second career currently commands an annual salary of £60, 000+ per annum. He has 18 years in the RM and will retire on full pension aged 43 years old, entitled to get a role paying a jolly good salary, plus his pension.

His Careers Manager gave him the opportunity to gain sufficient qualifications and acceptance into the local university. Not only did he get a degree, he spent a further two years earning the Masters degree. He has cleared the period for refund and once he hands his retirement chit in; he has a second career where he will become an affluent chap! Not bad for someone who thought his only options were the Armed Services were his only option when he left school with hardly any qualifications! That would command an annual salary of £60, 000+ per annum. He has 18 years in the RM and will retire on full pension aged 43 years old, entitled to get a role paying a jolly good salary, plus his pension

hoping to join soon. Just gotta get in better shape. Having a conflict with myself, I want to join infantry but from talking with people in the army they all have mentioned to get something with a trade so when back into civ life I can get a job. It’s hard to choose

Hi Craig, enjoy your videos mate. I am currently prepping for the assessment which will be within the next few weeks hopefully. The only part that is worrying me a bit is the test I can't find anything online to have some knowledge what kind of questions they will be, is this going to be the same as the online cognitive test do you know? Cheers Ed

Point 1 - very true. The military is a very stable job.

Point 2 - unfortunately cannot completely agree with this. I’m my experience is that the medical care is extremely basic as in bare minimum to keep you deployable. Personal example with regards to dental if you need a filling it’s a black one and if you want braces your teeth have to be excessively bad so again there is no comparison to paying for it yourself. Another personal example with regards to physio... I requested to see them regarding pain and mobility on my road bike and was told to stop ridding because I wasn’t required to ride a bike for my job and I wasn’t injured then they couldn’t help me. So please don’t expect to have the same experience as you would if you were paying for care in the civilian world.

Point 3 - highly variable, some places are okish and some are rubbish. Most gyms are super busy and the equipment although good when new is over used and poorly maintained. I hate when people say a civvy membership will cost you x amount per month when camp facilities just don’t compare. We can’t expect them to considering they are free so just don’t compare them to civvy establishments.

Point 4 - yes you can travel a bit but again this is highly variable and a lot of the time you are on exercise which can quickly suck the fun out of a lot of it. The best you can hope for is a good piss up.

Point 5 - yes this point is very accurate, I have gained some excellent qualifications that are highly transferable.

This all being said please don’t think I’m shitting on the military as a career because I’m not! Overall I think it’s a great career which offers so much but a lot of the time many of the perks are exaggerated to aid in recruitment

If you have tattoos on your neck can you join? I have 2 and there no offensive. When I have a shirt you can barely see it and when in my passport photo you can only just about see it. I've been told you can't join but I have a friend who has his throat done and is in the army. No bullshit I can send a photo
