I think the black Madonna art was because when the enlightenment happened in Europe, the Europeans were given an older version of Christianity which made them realise mary and jesus wasn't white this was because of their trade links with pre crusade Africa and most likely the Ethiopians who i believe had the oldest version of the bible before the dead sea scrolls were found. So the enlightened patrons of the renaissance Europe started including it in their art during this period Africa was allied closely but after the crusades Africa and europe were basically cut off from each other due to saladin expanding into northern Africa as punishment for helping Europe in the crusades and the origin of the black Madonna was lost to time

The Black madonna : could it be that the color of the statue is depicting the real color of Mary. i dont know about anyone else but ive never seen or met a WHITE arab, they are usually darker skinned people . good gravy so much ASSUMPTION .
