In my opinion what makes Guardiola so consistently dominant is his importance on good passing. It is the foundation to everything and he is fanatic about training it thoroughly. Just think about it, if you don't receive the ball perfectly in motion on the foot that you are strong with, then it will take you a bit of time to handle such ball giving the opponent more opportunities to win the ball in their pressing, you might even have a bad first touch because of a poor pass and the opponent can grab the ball. Guardiolas importance on near perfect passing is basically risk management and giving his players more time to think about what to do next and focus on the opponent to stay calm while getting pressed since passing just beomes second nature to them. You might say "they only play short passes" the completion rate for Man City this season is the highest on average in all categories from small - medium - long distance passing which just lays such a strong foundation for being consistent. You might say they only played 4 games so far, then let me tell you that this fact is true for the last 7 season, they have been the best in passing period which then just leaves extremely little room for the opponent to punish you cause there are just less opportunities.

The two best managers for scoring fast breaks vs City are Klopp and Poch and they both no longer in league 😅

JJ Bull was right about Slott's Liverpool and about teams eventually finding them out; he was just wrong about when. Nottingham Forest tactically outwitted Slott's Liverpool. I would add that I think this will be Liverpool's season; they will struggle against well-defended teams as Slott failed to beat José Mourinho four times and also failed to beat Diego Simeone twice. If a manager fails to beat these two guys or well-drilled defensive sides, I always judge whether or not they have what it takes to be a top manager in the best league in the world.

Only Manchester City can stop Manchester City

Lewis is just a new position Pep created. Plays like an inverted full back but is actually a runner to by pass the mid block. Has license to go forward to overlap any space in that split second the mid block loses shape. It is Pep's solution to teams crowding the centre and letting City play wide.

As a Man City fan, I will really miss Pep. In all of his season, he has constantly changed his tactics and gameplay to stay one step ahead of others. He is such a mastermind

Reuben needs to gain like 40kg to even get close to replacing Joe Bovine. Absolute disgrace.

Every time JJ trots out the "pep has won all but 3" thing he does Liverpool dirty in 19/20. This example is the least worst offender of them but that was still the earliest prem win for a team and the lead at the point of the covid closedown was already huge.

At around 26:50 your pronunciation of Ødegaard is the best from any British media ever. Solid 9/10.

Im sorry but nobody was beating liverpool in 19/20. They were like 4 wins clear by the time covid arrived

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I saw something similar from Toni Kroos in the Euros for Germany. Picked up space deep in his half, on the wing almost like a left back and was pinging passes in different directions. I think Pep found that useful but tweaked it so KDB can be more effective in attack as well. Also Kroos' primary role was as a 6 in the Euros whereas De Bruyne is playing a freer 8 role, I think that's why he drops well into the space between the fullback and the winger and it also helps make the pitch bigger for playmaker supreme to pick out runners and he has some fast runners this season with Doku, Haaland and Savinho.

The thing about pep is apart from his tactical genuis.... He is the best at squad rotation throughout the season...
Not counting this season( cus he hav lots of player options), for the past 2-3 season his squad wasn't that big....
He just knows how to rotate them to keep them fresh & fit, free from injury, unlike other teams who consistently used almost same lineups throughout whole season all competition
