VAT: Transfers of Going Concerns – Top Tips and How to Avoid Common Pitfalls

Julian will explore the procedures to follow to ensure that land and property sales can be treated as a ‘Transfer of a Going Concern’ (‘TOGC’). Julian will discuss some situations where businesses and their advisors have fallen foul of the TOGC rules – some of which may not be obvious to lawyers but could still cause problems for them. The webinar will then give consideration to the ‘Option to Tax’ in the process, and finish with a look at HMRC’s view of the VAT treatment of compensation payments
