"No danger whatsoever" - famous last words

There are definitely homeless people in Japan. They just kind of blend into the corners and are not allowed to actively pander for money.

This is a reminder that if you travel to another country, just because their culture is friendly, you still have to keep yourself safe as a visitor because danger can be anywhere. You are not familiar with the place and the wrong person will pick up on that.

Women do get molested on trains, in bars, and at night but it is heavily under-reported and under-punished. It is usually safer in Japan than in America but do not go to Japan thinking you don’t have to be careful.

She’s naive. She needs to be situationally aware especially at night around bars and men.

Japan is the most disciplined democracy the world has ever know - after WWII.

I lived in Japan for a few years (not military) the most humble and kind people you’ll ever meet. They’ll just talk behind your back at home.

As an American when I walk into a real Japanese restaurant in the U.S. they look at me like I'm a foreigner 😂
