You can absolutely save a ton of money going on an excursion with the locals but if you are not responsible enough to get back to the ship early enough…Don’t Do It

Many of the local excursion companies are great about getting you back to the ship on time. It works in their favor because a happy customer leads to repeat business. A fine example is Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel. Best. Excursion. Ever.

Booking local excursions are a risk because if you ran into problems or for some reason you are late to finish the excursion and return to the ship on time, the Ship will not wait for you BUT if its the ship organise their own excursion tours, the Ship will have to wait until we return.

You are far safer booking your shore excursion through the cruise line

Return to ship at least two hours before departure. Take into consideration time zone changes especially in the Western Caribbean and not all countries observe summertime daylight savings time.

I wish cruise ships stopped for a couple days and let you explore for that time, rather than just half or 3/4 of a day.

For #5 in April you weren't allowed to go off on your own in St Vincent. Could only go on an excursion.

On my last cruise I wish I could have done some studying about the cruise port that we where going to because there was a hurricane where we were going and so I had to choose something that wasn't full but sounds fun
