That's where you got it wrong Jared, after 1/5 repping 150lbs with my mate side spotting me and tearing my pec he said 'All you' so that's all I need to hear

I'm not training my muscles. I'm training my ego. Stay strong, kings

ego lifting isn't real if your spotter says "that was all you bro"

It's crazy and a bit worrying that I am pretty positive I see MORE people now a days ego lifting with horrible form than I did before we had these literal computers in our pocket that had access to innumerable amounts of articles, pictures, and videos showing you how to properly lift.

Kai Green’s video and weight lifting vs body building should be on loop at the entrance of every gym ❤

Ego pull ups are my pet peeve. I see people swimming through the air right beside a perfectly good assisted pull up machine. It hurts my shoulders just watching them.

I'm interested in understand the psychology of the ego lifter, IMO it's rooted in insecurity but I would like to see someone interview a few of them to see what's exactly wrong with them.

I would watch a “Is that ego lifting or not?” YouTube series from RP. There’s a lot of room for discrepancy and could use more clarification. When is it too much focus on form, and when is it ego lifting?

A lot of pros are for it because “you’re constantly keeping the muscle engaged & never relaxed at an extended range at the top or bottom”

Any merit to it? Personally not a fan

as I watched this, my pulldown lifted me off the ground

My problem is that I ask people to spot me for (90%~) squats and they help too much or don't let me grind out the rep(s) first, but I can't get mad at them because they're usually just normal gym-goers..

is this really that common? I see people complaining about it more than i see it

For real I see skinny guys repping 120s for 1/4 reps and they would get more stimulus repping the 70s

In my defense, it's a lot harder to get a pair of 150s on my knees by myself when they're 20" plate loaded dumbbells than it is to do it with a pair of rubberized dumbbells that have a flat bottom. But I don't have an extra $500 burning a hole in my pocket.

"ego lifting" bruh, everything you fucking do in the gym is ego based. what do you mean? you should always be out there pursuing a greater goal, obviously within reasonable achievability.

If u can’t get ur IFBB pro card without a $hit-ton of gear, don’t call urself a bodybuilder. *Damn*

Looks like baby boy is talking outta his a$$. I’m 5’7” @ 182 soaking wet and I can barley pick up 120s, but can rep sets of eight after nearly breaking my wrists. Having a workout partner or two hand heavy DBs to u is perfectly okay. Just ask Ronnie Coleman. U know, eight-time Mr. Olympia and the guy that was twice ur size in his hay day. It takes a lot of energy to get into position before the first actual rep. It’s smart to save ATP for the pressing instead of burning it on the ego.
