CUSTOM Bike on a BUDGET - From the Frame Up - PRIVATEER 141 MTB

Vital MTB wanted to build an affordable mountain bike with parts we knew would withstand REAL trail riding. We also understand that building a custom-spec'd mountain bike from scratch isn't always easy, so we provide some bike build and assembly tips along the way.

Yeah yeah people saying 4400 isn't a budget build I get it. If this video did anything for me it showed the insane value that Privateer provides for their full build. For 3700 you get SLX/XT Magura brakes, Fox 36 Grip2.

I have no idea why, but watching bike build videos is so satisfying to me.

All these people complaining about 4400 not being budget enough, this is a dream build! Think about that, most dream builds are 8k and above easily. So yes this is a budget dream build at half the price of normal ones.

I love that garage door! It makes for the perfect build area!

You can get a vitus sommet with shimano xt (brakes and drivetrain) factory fox suspension and carbon front triangle for 3.6k. Best value I've ever seen.

to seat the bead, i visually inspect around the bead, and with 5-10 psi in the tire, i roll the tire sideways with my hands, and pull the bead into place where needed

When is the review coming? Can’t find a review of the 141 from any of major media companies. You guys would be first out with it.

785mm bars for my 6 foot 1 inch height. I overhang my hands a bit because I like getting the feel for the width of my bike.

One big question fron where do it get these rings (the ones you put on the fork) are they included when i am buying a fork or do i have to buy the separately? Ty

The only thinks I’d change if this were my own build are the hubs, grips, pedals, and saddle. That 141 probably shreds

You should show the complete bike at the and of the Video now I already know how it looks 🥲

Bar width depends on bar sweep angle. More angle can get away with more width. I like 12* sweep, feels better on the wrist. 740mm width feel good for me. I'm a small guy, 5'7 on a good day, 135lbs.

Oh man that's a sick bike! Nothing like building the bike yourself too, probably the best part haha.

Couple extra tips, add a half width spacer above the stem before marking the steerer for cutting. Then you can add a full spacer after and be sure you have enough gap for the top cap to tighten everything and still have the stem all on the steerer.

Also, set the limit screws on the derailleur before putting the chain on.

Finally, I like to put the dropper lever on the cable right away so it doesn't pull through inside the bike and come loose from the bottom of the dropper.

Favorite splurge on this build is the Horizon aluminum flat pedals!

I love building bikes over time I have invested in bike tools such like Unior, SuperB, Pedros, IceToolz and Bikehand.
