Loved the original Dragonheart film. Pretty cool to see actual intelligent dragons than the usual more animalistic ones ya often get in entertainment.

6:37: No... no it wasn't. I vividly remember sitting there, at the tender age of 10, a huge fan of the first movie, staring at the sequel, not watching it, but simply STARING at the screen in disbelieve, experiencing my first true cinematic disappointment and then uttering the words: "This was awful!" to my mother next to me.

Can I just say...that poster for the first movie just SLAPS! What great art and composition!

One of the most unconventional but incredibly beautiful films. This is always a favorite of mine. Honestly Dennis Quad's voice cracking when he says "i had everything under control" along with both him & Sean Connery delivering pure desperation as well as heartbreak at the end never ceases to bring tears to the eye

Unfortunately, the original Dragonheart did NOT do even okay at the box office. It got utterly creamed by Independence Day -- just like every other movie coming out that summer :(

The original movie was one of my first obsessions as a child! My parents rented it every weekend for months. It's more than overdue for a rewatch, thanks for the reminder!
If they're doing a big budget reboot I hope they do a good job with it, the original story is such a good and surprisingly touching one. It could also work as a quality miniseries or animated adaption, maybe with a DnD campaign tie in.
Also the sequels look wild, I'm almost certain I saw 2 on Sci-fi Network back in the day

In the first film, Draco does mention a female dragon: "So it was you who killed the scarred one. She and I were the last." So it`s hinted that Draco and the scarred one are Drake`s parents.

"I AM THE LAST ONE!"
Having sequels takes all the weight and a ton of the meaning out of the first one.

These movies, even the terrible ones, will always have a special place in my heart.
Thank you for making a video on this wonderful series!

The original's score is a large reason it still sticks with me.

I spent HOURS playing the creativity center as a kid… I freaking loved it haha. I don’t remember much of the story but the art and music was great

This movie made me love dragons and see them as not like they were usually depicted in medieval lore, that being only greedy, evil creatures.

I loved how it weaved an Arthurian lore to it where Dragons were like guardians and allies to knights and the concept of Dragon's sharing their hearts with humans is such a fascinating and unique take since no other fantasy world, to my knowledge, does this with Dragons

This movie was my life as a kid, good memories. Can't believe I slept on the 2nd one, looks like meme gold. Great video as always!

Honestly, with the franchise's focus on prequels and with what I'm about to mention being in the public domain, I'm surprised that there hasn't been a story revolving around the Arthurian legends and myths. I mean, the Old Code was said in the first movie to have been created by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and Draco took Bowen and the rest of them to Avalon at one point in the film.
Maybe you could have it that either Arthur or Merlin had a bond with a dragon and it was with that dragon's help Camelot was established, you could go a step further and reveal that the name Pendragon was made in honor/tribute to the dragons.

I did play the creativity center game and it was so much fun. It had a maze game, a matching game, among others. You collect dragon scales and when you get all of them, it shows you the end of the first movie. Also, when you beat certain areas of the game, you get a little 30 second clip of the movie. Another game that borrows the plot from Dragonheart is Drakan: The Order of the Flame and Drakan: The Ancient's Gates. You play as a female warrior, Rynn, and are bonded to a elder dragon named Arokh. When Rynn takes damage, Arokh takes damage, and if she dies, he dies.

I'm happy you brought up Dragon's Dogma, I had noticed the similarity myself but I haven't seen enough people talk about it

Dragonheart was my start into the Fantasy Genre. As I saw that movie in the early 2000s and I am convinced until today ❤ that without Dragonheart, Movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings where not been possible.

I was obsessed with Dragonheart and had the medieval creativity center cdrom. It was a great little game that requires critical thinking and puzzle solving skills

There was also Drakan - The Order of the Flame, with both the female hero and the dragon unifying their existence via shared hit points.

Dragonheart is one of these cheesy 90's special-effects movies, but somehow manages to stick with you, just on the virtue of its performances, the music and full commitment to its story. It will always hold a special place in my heart ❤
After #2, I never bothered with the sequels, but if they're really prequels, I'm tempted to change that.

I think I had the exact reaction you did, watched the first one when I was younger, thought it was cool, was shocked it had a sequel... and another one... and another one... and another one
