In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the best way to measure insulin resistance is measuring your waist (in inches) to height (in inches) ratio. This correlates pretty close to actual insulin resistance. Make sure you measure the waist at the level of the belly button with a relaxed stomach. Then divide your waist in inches by your height in inches to give you the number - see the chart above.

Correlates to insulin resistance:

Thanks to your videos I've learned so much regarding my own blood sugar levels, how to prevent long-term pancreatic Beta-cell damage, and how to prevent hypoglycemia. Super helpful stuff. Cheers

Fabulous! Finally I can throw out that scale - always wanted to do that as it never made sense to me, never seemed right or truly useful. Freedom! 💝🎈

Hey Dr Berg. Based on this video, what are your thoughts on glucose disposal aids?

@Amit from Israel In this unique case the units don't matter; inches, centimeters... or even if you would wish to express your body sizes in light years (!) the ratio will be exactly the same and you still can use the chart as it is.

I've been on IF for a few months. Started at approx 198 lbs and currently at 173.6 lbs. My pants have been falling off, so I'm back wearing old pants from the last century. This measurement is upsetting. 40" / 71.75" = 0.5575 Yikes! Still pretty Insulin Resistant.. I was put in the Pre-Type 2 category a few years ago. Now that I'm turning 72 years old, I've decided to drop-out of Pre-Type 2 category, and live a little longer. Looks like I need to keep up the weight loss & Planet Fitness visits.. But now, I need to keep a log of my Relaxed Bellybutton measurement..
I'm also going to learn more about the KRAFT Insulin Assay.. Thanks for giving us all this good info Dr. Berg!

I find all of these videos so helpful. I think that what I'm not grasping is why we say that the insulin is sensitive in a healthy person and not that the blood cells are sensitive to the insulin from the pancreas; that it is accepting of it and no longer resisting? Any response from anyone would be much appreciated. And thank you again for the work that you do here, Dr. Berg.

Hello Dr.Berg love all your videos very good job indeed, i have 2 questions first is - how can we order your products in Europe and my second is not kind of a question it's more like a note - can you show those things in centimeter also. Thank you, keep up the good work.

I fell into the extremely thin range but I am not underweight at all. I do believe I have insulin resistance however.

Okay but now I'm confused. In one of your other videos, on how to build muscle, you talked about how Marathon runners that are very lean and eat a lot of sugars also become insulin resistant so how does that factor into this.

What if I used to have a small waist but ever since after a surgery (+IV drops) my stomach has been super bloated, does that mean I now have an insulin resistance?

Dr could you please use markers in good condition so the writing is clear. And it will be highly appreciated if you don't make heavy white boards, like step by step.
