Well you’ve invested in a lot of skun knuckles and busted fingers there lol 😝…BUT…you’re going to be living a childhood dream for many of us and I will love watching how you go about restoring this piece of history 👍👍👍👍….if you haven’t already checked it out, “The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum” have a FANTASTIC YouTube channel on their tank restorations which they update every Wednesday …AWESOME project Graham😎…cheers 🍻

That is one of two tanks I'd love to own. M3 Stuart and the M113.

A now tragically deceased local once told me about a company in Adelaide SA which can renew the rubber on idlers for military tracked vehicles.

He said he got the process done for rollers on a half-track he owned and told me the same bloke had also replaced the rubber on at least one Bren Gun carrier.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the company, but I believe it may have been on or near Grand Junction road at Bedford or Beverly.

My Godfather was a tank Commander with the Australian Army in the pacific during WWII, I don't know what sort of tanks he served in but on rare occasions he had some really interesting and often entertaining tales to tell.

Brilliant madness! I didn't think I was into tanks but now you have me wondering... Well done, what a rare and interesting project. I've heard of a Molasses/water mix being used before to derust bulldozer crownwheels, it worked well on some car parts when I tried it.

This will be awesome to follow, don't pay any attention to criticism, criticism never save one single machine from rusting away in a field, did it. Tank Patreon?

You might like to contact the Australian Artillery & Tank Museum in Cairns (they have a YouTube Channel as well) as they are also restoring Grant tanks - they would be a great source of information for you on particular issues that they have encountered and may make your restoration easier.

Hi Graham, love the new project, as a suggestion to get the rivits could you contact a black Smith in ur area to make some closer to the look of the original ones especially in high strength areas. Just a thought i was just thinking not just the looks but the tensile strength should be something to consider. Keep up the good work.
