Really nice interview, appreciate the feedback Roman gives.
I totally agree that for example iRacing is so so good but that overheating tyre is just soo unrealistic.
That is little things other games left right are missing or having good/bad. But simracing giving so much.
I learned myself that all Race experience that I got from Simracing helped me so so much, Im always like "oh mate I have been in scenerio lets do this or go that way" works really good when you race car to car :) Always know what to do or where to go :)

What a great interview. I happen to share Romain's approach - simracing got too complicated for its own sake. Complexity does not equal fidelity. Physical tyre models, complex track evolution simulations, all those systems try to reflect reality, but crumble under their own complexity and ultimately fail. Simracers nerd out over these details, even though they're far from the real thing, while F1 teams put it all aside and make things simplier, as that helps to capture the essence and extract the necessary part of realism. Nothing wrong with pushing the envelope, but if you go the wrong way, you end up hurting the experience.

Also, Romain joins the legion of real life drivers who took a jab at iRacing's tyre model.

Thank you for mentioning iRacing's tyre overheating problem. It's cartoonishly bad.

I am glad I am not alone in not liking the way the rear of the car feels in just about every sim game.

Typically you put the plants/set props behind your subjects. Like the vid though.

Great point that real world has variables and great drivers read the situation.

I didn't realize but I have copied your setup Romain (although different formula wheel makes) and I have to say the "other brand" feels very different than the VRS, but then again you have way more experience than me. However, the "other brand" may be a brand that I am not aware of.

Over agressive pass attempts that take someone out of the race?
Cause we already got allot of that.

All jokes aside best of luck with the lambo

The tire model in iRacing is by far the worst in all "sims". The person
who can save the most tire during an oval race with a long green flag run is usually gonna be the winner, while super speedway and raod course races have little to no tire wear. The tire feels plastic, no sidewall and you can easily lock up any car under braking. Why is iRacing not using their biggest assets (real drivers) for accuracy within their "sim"? I hope iRacing gets some good competition and it forces them to fix their "sim"....I think it's the only way things will get better.

Step 1: Give everyone who made LMU a vigorous shoulder shake and ask them what they were thinking
Step 2: Tell the iRacing team to stop charging 12 bucks for a single car in a game where you already have to pay a monthly subscription for some stupid reason
Step 3: 1-week online ban for anyone who makes contact at T1 in Monza
