I tried PAINT COACH's FREE oil painting course - did I just waste a lot of time?

For this video, I tried @paintcoach 's free oil painting course... I've never done a review (of sorts lol) video before but I'm no beginner when it comes to free online courses. I've completed my fair share of courses but never one by paint coach. When my lovely friend and artist @SanchiaMarshall shared that paint week was coming up, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get back into painting with oils. And that led to the idea of making a video about it.

I had a lot of fun creating this, and learning all the valuable knowledge paint coach had to share and I'm happy to say that after months of fearing the blank oil painting canvas, I'm now back to enjoying this medium.

This is quite a different video style than I usually create so I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments.

Also, if you've ever done a paint coach course, what are your experiences?
I'd love to know!

Dear Creative Travelers, I hope you enjoy this one!!
See you again very soon.

Love and light, always!

This was so fun to watch! Thank you so much for going through paint week! Your paintings turned out great! It also makes me happy to see another painter putting in the effort to share their journey on YouTube! Keep making videos!

I believe Paint Coach is one of the best teachers on YouTube and I have tried quite a few.

When we are kind and patient to ourselves it gives us a safe space to open up, allowing for play and exploration. When the critical mind comes in all that gets shut down. So embrace LOVING what you do, even the bad or the bad feelings you have creating the piece, in that there is a flood of energy that is wanting to shift. It can only do that if it has someplace to go. Out of you and into the world as ART is always a brilliant solution, as art is the unspoken language that can say everything we need, without words getting in the way.

Great observation and overview. I was looking at this and glad to have you pop up and share.

One of the best and most positive youtube vids I have seen! Proper critique, produced with panache, professionalism and empathy. Engaging, educational and entertaining… As are @paintcoach vids…cheers

Great video, and I've now heard of this paint coach who I'd never heard of before!! Sounds like his course really taught you some useful info, and was fun and enjoyable. I don't think "appliable" is actually a word. If something can be applied to something else, the word is "applicable". The easiest way to learn how to say "alizarin crimson" is to watch any random Bob Ross video. He used it a lot and mentioned it a lot in his painting show. Also, if you want to learn how to say it with a really thick German accent, you can watch Bill Alexander (who was Bob Ross' mentor) on his YouTube channel. I think Lena Danya uses a lot of quinacridone-based colors and sometimes mentions them. Thanks to your video, I may check out Paint Coach's course myself someday.

Such a good idea for a video, you made me curious . Your findings about the course were very well expressed, glad to see it was worth your week of time and there is so much truth in what you said about the way of your mindset needs to be towards the course but definitely towards yourself too. It's also positive this "act of action" brought you the little punch needing to go on, sometimes we just need this small encouragements to feel confident again to continu our own path . Ohh and again beautiful shoots too 👌 Thanks for sharing !

Wonderful video and overview of the free week course and paintings Frederike. You make me smile and laugh with "brush pressure, brush pressure" lol. And I know what you mean about your legs going numb squatting down lol. Thanks for doing Paint week with me! I really enjoyed it even more because I had a friend to paint with 😍

ok..ive paused this at 3.42 for 1 ..to sub to your channel because i love your accent and 2 I also think paint coach is an ok dood to learn from .... or is he? lets see.... I may pause and add to this because thats what I do i like to spontaneously react.. ok paused at 6.30 love that paint layout transition, i may use that in my videos. ok, ,paused at 10.57 that is a small brush did paint coach recommend that size? as ive only seen him use that size at the end chucking on highlights? ok paused at 13.12 Norway.. brilliant.... mainly because you look like a penfriend i had back at school here in England back in the late 70s ( not how they would be now lol... ) ok again at 14.29... yes being your own coach...i dont know about you, or anyone else who will read my babbling and pausing but absolutely Hate family and friends just saying " ooh yeh nice " when you show them something you are working about this lol but its what i do when someone does an interesting video on youtube I have never seen the channel before. Now at the end... now im going to watch some more of your videos...this one was well put together and so enjoyable...well done and as this is christmas eve, have a very merry christmas...
