FTL is the kind of game that gives you nostalgia when you only bought it last week

the first game i got when i got a computer, at 10 years old. i had seen my older cousin playing and thought it looked so interesting and difficult. i’m 19 nearly 20 now, and my cousin is 24. god… those times that you just cannot get back.

this game came out when I was 10 and I remember loving it so much. I'm 20 now which isn't old, yet, but this ost will be the definition of nostalgia for my life

Sometimes it's peaceful sometimes it's
"GET ON THE OXYGEN YOUR GOING TO RUN OUT OF AIR WHY ARE MANTIS BOARDING WHAT THE HELLL!!!""

Even scarier when you're out of fuel, low on scrap and running a skeleton crew on a ship that's about to tear apart at the seams when all of a sudden your oxygen cuts out, but your paralyzed sensors can't tell you where the attackers are...
Needless to say, it can be a very tense game

That first note is so recognizable. The music brings me back to a time playing on cool autumn nights after work when no one else was awake. Good times.

I remember being really young, playing this game with my aunt. We could never get past the final boss, and it was so frustrating. A year ago, I downloaded the game, remembering it from way back in the day. It took some effort, but I managed to beat it. The feeling of victory was very cathartic. It felt like as if I was sysiphus, and I had finally reaching the top of the mountain. It felt like something I was never capable of doing was finally done. When the run ended, I quit to the title screen and sat there for multiple minutes, just listening to the music. It brought me to tears. Thinking back on how those memories full of frustration and failure were in reality some of my favorite moments in life. I got to experience this masterpiece of a game for the first time with one of my favorite people and a very important role model to me.

This game, on its own, is nearly perfect aesthetically. The soundtrack really accentuates the feeling of exploring a vast void of nothingness, as you meet enemies and go through hardships along the way on a journey that has a high chance of ending in your demise. It's also made in such a way that envokes a sense of nostalgia in you; to light a spark in you that burns with all the fondest moments of your life, as you're about to go on this harrowing journey.

To me, the OST will always remind me of my aunt. They are a very important person to me, and as I stated, a huge role model in my life. Playing this game with them way back is one of my favorite memories and while I don't get to see them nearly as often anymore, I cherish every moment I get to spend with them.

Thank you for existing, Kai. You rock.

The title theme, for me, matches the theme of the game perfectly. Like a "lost in space but with a ray of hope" kind of feel. Ambient, but a bit uplifting. It's really a beautiful song.

This music communicates a depth far beyond what most dialogue could.  Good sound track.

Its not just a soundtrach to a game, its a soundtrack to the flow of thought processess that inevitably take place in the moment to moment gameplay. Problems, solutions, action, pauses, dread and hope. The game is believeable because the music puts you right in the middle of a dramatic space battle or an endless void whilst enhancing the gameplay rather than distracting from it.

That moment when you've never played the game nor watched a video of the gameplay, yet listened to the soundtrack.

Milky Way will forever be my absolute favorite. Whether it's explore or battle, the melody always makes me want to run to my computer to play some FTL.

Pretty close to crying as soon as those first notes hit. I'm very lost right now, everything is new and I feel alone in it all. This has grounded me for the first time in what feels like forever.
Unrivalled nostalgia factor 👍

I have never actually played this game, yet the soundtrack makes me have such nostalgic feelings.

Second star to the right and straight on 'til the next sector.
Missiles are charged and ready to vector.
Shields to three and Engines to five.
Keep starting those fires till they're no longer alive.
