Which Pokemon would you give a third type to?

Just in case anyone was wondering, giving Volcarona the flying type makes it a OHKO to stealth rock

"I have really focused on quality."

Wolfey, it's been noticed. It's been a huge step up and it's honestly really impressive. Keep it up man

I think one factor you forgot to mention is that type specific Immunities would now be even more prevalent defensively and giving Pokémon like Klefki the Ghost/Steel/Fairy type gives it not only 4 immunities but also makes it have the ability to not be trapped by trapping moves and abilities. By giving triple types you risk a lot of Pokémon not only having more offenses but having more niche immunities like immunity to Powder moves, immunity to prankster, immunity to Burn/Poison/Paralysis, trapping moves. It’s already one thing to know all the intricacies of the current types like Ice types being immune to Sheer Cold and Freeze, but now having to balance Sheer Cold immunity with anti-trapping and prankster immunity is a lot more information to manage.

It's cool how he almost predicted the gimmick, but it's awesome how his thumbnail is basically the first major event for the game.

I think we all agree that if this happened, Lugia deserves Flying, Psychic and Water type

I I like the video idea, but I'm so interested to know what would happen if a Pokémon were allowed to have three types! If only there was a bearded man with numerous accolades in competitive Pokémon to teach me!

As for the complications of STAB, the one way they could balance it would be if STAB got weaker the more types a Pokemon has. For example, 1.6x for monotypes, 1.3x for dual types, and 1.2x for triple types.

I think the bigger problem than 8x weaknesses is that 4x weaknesses would become a lot more common. Pokemon with 4x weaknesses are almost barely playable and with 3 types the likelihood of each individual Pokemon having 1 or more 4x weakness triples.

I will be honest Wolfey, I loved and have sincerely missed the non-edited content with the funny intros and raw entertainment. HOWEVER, this is one of the best videos I have watched from you and I was entertained the whole time. It's both incredibly approachable because of an easy concept like typing but you offer incredible insight that is extremely entertaining with funny quips. HUGE PROPS. Been watching for a few years and I love it.

I’d like to see Wolfey create a new type and how he’d implement it competitively and thematically

I like how your content doesn't assume that your viewers are into competitive pokemon or even pokemon in general, while still being interesting to someone who knows what you're talking about. It's a hard line to walk between making your content accessible and making something that enthusiasts would want to watch and you should be proud

I feel like a 3rd type should be an “ability” similar to dhelmise that effectively gives a Pokémon a third type at the expense of an ability

Fun Fact :
In the video talking about Lugia and Ho-oh when they were distributed in USUM, the developers said that the only reason that Lugia had a psychic type was because this type was powerful when gen 2 was released.
That's it

I think an interesting way to balance tri-typing is to slowly weaken stab moves based on the number of types.

1 Type: +50% Stab
2 Types: +40% Stab
3 Types: +30% Stab

This makes it where you trade power for coverage. This balance allows for single types to be the strongest in their stab moves, and might allow for an interesting change in the meta.

Wolfey's editor really knocked this out of the park. Great stuff, especially the 2 type to 3 type transitions!

WolfeyVGC: "I'm relitively positive that every pokemon that lives under the sea is a water type." Eelectross: "am i a joke to you?"

I think Dragalge would fit that since it’s aquatic, even Masquerain.

Their typings would be Poison/Water/Dragon and Bug/Water/Flying

I'm surprised you didn't mention Dhelmise at all! Having an ability that effectively gives it a third STAB is an interesting approach, even if Dhelmise itself isn't great.

With Terastalization now giving a new Stab while keeping the old stabs bonus, it made this video so relevent!
