We are doing a few updates to our kitchen and we had to replace the old tile bar. We used a large piece of Oak and made custom hidden support brackets out of flat rolled steel bars. This was a fun and simple project that was a great addition to our kitchen.

This is inspiring, I'm looking to make a DIY bar also and your vid made me think of chiseling out the bar top instead of the frame. What do you think?

Very helpful thanks. Working on a breakfast bar myself, though I'm a total newbie. My concern is the support for the bar. Where did you get those metal support bars again? Where would I look for those? You mentioned a big box store? thank you
