Once the fun is over the first time, how can we find the same fun all over again? Well, I'm not one for Nuzlockes, so here's how I refresh it!

The amount of nuzlockes is insane. Some are really obscure aswell like 'only pokemon beginning with a certain letter' and weird stuff like that. Also I firmly believe that nobody on Earth discovered how to get the regis without spoilers

"The best post game in the entire series"
It always confuses me when people consider going back to Kanto to be part of the postgame of Johto games. Postgame implies it isn't part of the main story, and is just extra stuff you can do if you want to keep playing after beating the game, but from starting up a new game in gold and silver to beating the Johto elite 4 is BY FAR the shortest pokemon adventure in the series; less than half the amount of time/content as gen 4. Like I can beat the elite 4 in ruby and sapphire and feel like I've completed everything I've set out to do and be comfortable putting the game down, but when I beat the Johto elite 4 I FEEL like I've only played half of a game.

I personally replay Pokemon games for the pettiest of reasons: I didn't like the team I used, or there's a member that I didn't like and want to replace it with a better team member. For instance, in my first playthough of Black I had a Metagross, but I soon changed my mind and wanted a pure Unova team and replaced it with a Jellicent. Or how I'm planning to replay Heart Gold, just because I want a Tyrannitar on my team, instead of the Golem that I used.
Also, while I respect your opinion, Generation 5 is my favorite generation, where as the original Gen 1 and 2 games are my least favorite.

I actually deliberately avoid picking teams ahead of time because that's always ruined the excitement for me! HOWEVER, I also play with the side rule of "never pick something I've ever used before". I actually have a big image with every Pokémon I've ever used marked off!

So, I'll decide on who to get before the first gym, but outside of that? No refreshers-- I look up the available Pokémon _only when I get to them._ It keeps me on my toes and every time I reach a new area, it's exciting to refresh myself on who's available!

That said, what's interesting is that every time I replay a game, it gets harder because I've already used all the good stuff... How do I beat Brock when I've already used Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Mankey, Spearow, Nidoran♂, Nidoran♀, Butterfree, Beedrill, and Pikachu...?
next time i play a kanto game, i genuinely have to rely on pidgey and rattata for the beginning

Dang the way you describe persona players and Pokémon players was brutal

Honestly, I've almost never replayed a Pokemon game, and it's for a special reason, which is that I don't want to lose all the Pokemon I caught and the records of my Hall of Fame. Basically, the lack of multiple save files just overall deters me from restarting a game

Playing UltraSun I took a chance of the key chain Pokémon. Turned out great, actually -- it had a lot of weird but useful moves! Took it all the way to the end of the game and even past Rainbow Rocket league. Also, Mimikyu IS AWESOME! It's decoy ability is just so darn useful, especially when you need to revive team mates, and because of decoy he can use two item turns before being defeated himself

I replay my Pokémon games pretty much the same, though with one exception which stems from my youth: every first playthrough of every new generation I consider my official playthrough and I don't catch doubles in these playthroughs. For example: if I got a Fletchling in my Y playthrough I am not allowed to catch one in my first playthrough of Moon. It was a rule me and my friends came up with when we were in primary school (we made it in order to emulate the animé better since Ash does te same) and it has just stuck.
I admit it is pretty silly, but that is how I enjoy the games and that is the important thing. No matter who you are or how you play it, Pokémon is (fun) for everybody.

On a different note, my favorite games to replay are gen 6. This is the generation Pokémon crossed my path again in a big way and when started to learn and implement the deep layer of strategy behind it and X and Y have a very big Pokédex so there are a lot of options to make different teams each time. Also, it has the Hoenn remakes, the region my whole Pokémon journey started in.
Gen 1 is my least favorite. You think the bugginess and unbalancing of the games charming, I find them very annoying and frustrating.

The first point is the hardest one to do. How do you keep yourself spoiler free?

Also every game is linear except kanto, saying Unova is bad because it's linear is really ridicolous as every game is, and by that logic every game is bad

If possible, try to trade 2 pokemon with all 8 hm's to your new playthrough game.
It makes exploring without a walkthrough extremely satisfying!
Bonus: Also trade 1 pokemon with other field moves, such as Sweet Scent.

@Kohdok I liked the way you explained things--thank you from someone w/an emulator.

I think Pokémon Sapphire is my fave for replaying. It’s not too long a game but it’s not too small either and with so many awesome and creative Pokémon to choose from. To me, gen 3 gba games are the optimum “pocket sized Pokémon adventure” 😊 gen 5 games are good too. Gen 1 has been done to death, gen 2 is excellent fun but kinda long when you factor in the post game. gen 4 is pretty beefy with gen 5 not far behind but gen 3 on a Gameboy SP is juuuusssst right... ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

My starter team usually exists of:
1. Water starter.
2. HM holders.

RecentlyI lost all my Pokemon teams from my childhood (12+ years of Pokemon) because a failure on my SD card while I had all of them on my digital copy of Omega Ruby. I'm very sad and I don't know if replay all my games and make new teams to bring them to the next Pokemon on Switch... Did someone had an experience like this? What do you suggest me to do?
