LOL this gives me hope. My girls grew up free-roaming the forest and know the squeakers are not real squirrels haha they play only when they get super excited about going for a walk and it lasts all of 20 seconds. This makes me want to keep trying! They just stare at me when I try to get them to play like I'm a weirdo. Well, they're right on that part ;)

My Alaskan Huskies had no interest in playing, except for when they played to get to know a new dog. Then, when they felt like they knew that dog, they would completely lose interest in play again. They broke a lot of doggy hearts. When I tried to get them to play, they would just look at me as if I'd suddenly turned blue and sprouted tentacles. They had a couple of favourite toys that they might carry around. But play with them? God forbid. Now I have a border collie cross and he's SO playful. And smart enough to be inventing games for us to play.

I can attest to this video. I taught my dog to love playing with a Frisbee. I actually alternated between his favorite ball to catch and the Frisbee and then focused more on the Frisbee later. now he actually likes his Frisbee as much as the ball.
