It's kinda funny the number of people getting upset about the 9700X performance when they plan to buy a 9800X3D anyway.

AMD is selling these 65w chips as X variants to make a 9700XTX and 9800XTX3D in the future. Everyone knows that performance is determined by the amount of X's.

There is no way they had a 99% drop in revenue. Someone made a mistake there.

I imagine that the shareholders are upset that Intel knew about the manufacturing issue with corrosion for over a year and never said anything until it became public recently.

lol yahoo - "99% drop in revenue"... someone flipped the numbers. They saw a 1.14% drop, but an 80% drop in EPS. A 99% drop in revenue would be a a loss of tens of billions (they pull in 12-15 billion per month)

I think you got the Ryzen 9000 wrong. It is not for people with 7000 series, it is for the people with 3000 and 5000. I stayed on the AM4 platform because I did not like the 95 degrees normal temp of the 7000 series. Now I have a good reason for the upgrade.

For Asus motherboards, it is labelled as a Beta BIOS that supposedly has the fix. I don't want to flash a beta BIOS that may or may not void the warranty on all of my PC components.
Also, in the description of the beta BIOS, it is stated that this BIOS update addresses the instability problems happening on the 13th and 14th non-K SKU CPUs. Meaning, by their own admission, this "fix" is not meant to be the fix for all of the K-SKU line-up from 14900K/KS all the down to the 13600K. It only addresses the non-K SKU parts and I don't know why none of the tech YouTubers are catching on to this. The actual fix is still not here yet.

For tomorrow, get more mirrors and make it look like you have a second head on your shoulder, facing forward, mimicking everything you say.

Honestly the heat reasoning is very legit. I build exclusively only AMD computers for myself and other people and when switching to AM5 and grabbing the 7900x like I had to get a different case with less glass and switch to the Noctua NH D15 because that thing was like a flaming sun. If they could make the same chip but able to work more efficiently heat and wattage draw wise that’d be extremely nice. I still atm recommend for ease of build customization and less alarming heat(and price) for newer pc gamers AM4/5800x3D. If they could also make the 7900xtx more efficient that’d be nice too cause I can heat my house with my pc if it was running long enough. At this point the majority of people will never need anything as powerful as we have available to us already so taking some time to make the tec more efficient to me seems like a great idea plus would help them be able to know how to keep everything they make that efficient moving forward. But they need to make a statement saying this would be their goal so no one is expecting anything apart from that. AMD fan boy for life here and definitely not upset and will probably use these new chips soon to get people onto AM5 if the temps actually were more like the AM4 chips. Cause most newer to pc people don’t want to see base high temps or have an unintentional space heater in their house. I am no expert so please don’t like attack me if I said something weird unintentionally 😅

shareholders are all fine and good when the stock goes up (regardless of whatever shady / illegal business goes on in the background). But when it drops ah man then it's war

The 9000 series is actually great news for the server market which is far more consequential to revenue and competition. It is a major efficiency boost and majorly a win for AMD in that important segment.

Shareholders of Intel have to prove malfeasance, it's not a given, since product defects are a valid excuse for missing target profits, at least in a court of law. I don't think they are going to win this lawsuit.

We need high memory speed AMD benchmarks .

This is AMD’s Ivy Bridge moment lol. When intel pulled this people were pissed too.

No users should be expected to even update the bios, much less set specific tuning options, just to keep your CPU from frying.

Making the Mac Mini materially smaller is a bad idea, IMHO. While the M4 itself may run pretty cool, it’s clear from the M3 MBA that cooling and thermal throttling is still an issue. The mini needs a fan, and the Mini has been available with the M2 Pro, which definitely needs fan cooling to maintain performance.

There is also a large ecosystem of docks and similar devices designed around the current Mac Mini form factor. Totally unnecessary change with the only “benefit” is maybe reducing Apple’s cost by a few dollars.

People are blowing this ZEN5 thing out of proportion, if you have the cooling and power budget, just enable PBO and the reviews show it will perform better while consuming more power and trowing more heat, If electricty is expensive where you live and colling is expesinive too, its a no-brainer, the 9700x is a fantastic value for people who are coming from intel 13/14gen and looking to save some money on the power bill, and it saves a lot.

Not just power bills but lower power at iso performance is great for very compact ITX builders (every watt counts) AND people with very small spaces. Given the same performance and maybe a 30% difference in price for 50% more efficiency I’d pick the efficiency.

Remember that every watt consumed is ultimately heat. A 300W space heater can keep my room comfortable in winter. 500W and I need to think about a fan or opening the door.

Then in the summer holy hell even with a fan and the door open the room is 10F hotter than the hallway outside sometimes, because my PC sucks down 700W in intensive games and VR. And I’m moving around on top of that. Efficiency is making its way into my thoughts for more than just my bill or the environment broadly.

Still all niche cases but it’s worth mentioning.

Edit: I wrote this pausing it right before you said all that lol nvm.
