My sister met someone on roblox, as her "boyfriend" and they started talking for about 6 months.. telling her he was "15" Because my sister is 14. no, this is true. I use to be "friends" with this guy I had know for a year+, when we met on a WWII RP game. He said he was a 12 year old boy who lived in Sweden, and being the gullible person I am believed him. Then after a month or so, he started to introduce me to his "family", his two " brothers " who also played roblox, and together we all played together. After a while, we became really good friends, and I was desperate to know about him. funny enough, he was too. he started if we wanted to exchange "looks", where we will both take turns to describe how we look, and our hobbies. then, he started asking for pictures. I was a little anxious, but I still did it. then when it was his turn, he said " do u mind if I show u a picture of me when I was younger" so I was like k. he sent a picture of a young boy with his hands in his pocket. I knew something wasn't right, but I was too happy at the moment to worry about that. I rushed downstairs and told my parents about my "friend" I made. They seemed a little worried, but then they thought it was OK. a few days later when max (the guy) and I were playing a game together, my mum summoned me Downstairs into her office, and on her screen was a model, the exact same person Max said he was. I tried to dismiss the idea and think that it could have been him, but I knew myself it wasn't. I was so upset. I was then banned from all devices. one day when I came home from school, my mum brought me in her office once again. She had found "max". He had a YouTube channel, and yes, he was Swedish, but not 12, far from it. He was a large, old, hairy man. I couldnt believe it. I was furious. A few days later, I snook on my pc And started criticising him, hinting out I knew who he actually was after being told numerous times by parents not to. I then left it. The next time I went to his profile it said "max died of cancer today at 12:30 really sad can't type anymore". Fucking nonce. he faked his death to get away. *please, if you think a situation Is going to far, tell someone. I can only thank my caring parents for saving my ass*

This video is almost 3 years old. It's still controversial. Times have changed, and it has some stuff I no longer agree with and have not agreed with for a while.
While I do still think people shouldn't online date on Roblox and it can (and has) lead to some pretty bad stuff, this video is still pretty over dramatized. I agree with most of what I said in this video, but it's over dramatized for sure. Although I made it clear that meeting up is very rare ( at 4:00 ), and while it has happened where people who meet/talk over Roblox meet up IRL and things turn sour, it's super super rare and I should've done a better job making sure people knew how uncommon it is. Sexual predators do exist, not a lot but they're out there, especially within certain groups.
I no longer agree with the whole "Roblox supports online dating" theory. I have been open about disagreeing with it, saying it in Tweets and videos dating back to early 2018. Almost every single video I made supporting that theory is now down. I just can't remove it from this because this video has too many views, meaning I can't cut it out using the YouTube editor and taking this video down will likely screw up my channel due to how many views would be gone (ex. Nathorix's channel got screwed up after he took down millions of views worth of videos).
TL;DR
I still agree with _most_ of this video. This video is over dramatized. I no longer support the "Roblox supports online daters" theory.

So, this happened a few months back. I was really into RPing on ROBLOX and so was my friend. And we met this guy on here, and my friend and him on the RP were together. I didn't think much of it since I was just thinking "well, it's just RP, right?", and it all went downhill when they started talking off of ROBLOX. We were all on a group chat on Facebook, keep in mind, that my friend is 13, I'm 16, and the guy didn't know how old she was. It was only until a few weeks later we found out how old the guy was. He was 18. And that's when I started to get really uncomfortable about it, especially ONCE he found out about her age too, he was sending her sexual messages on ROBLOX and also on Facebook, even though she's underage.
She was telling me everything, the guy wanted to be in an actual relationship with her and OD on ROBLOX with her. And I was telling her that was kinda creepy and we should cut ties with him and just block him. She told me no. And they started to OD.
I reported them and all that stuff. But like how it always is, it never works. It took only 3 weeks for her to come back and message me about how worried she was. She told me that in the group chat, he said he was going to commit suicide and sent pictures to her of him cutting himself because she wouldn't send nudes.
And he never said anything after that, I was trying to help my friend through this, even though I didn't support ODing. It was only a week later when we found out something strange: he was posting stuff on Facebook, but it was a girl taking pictures and such.
And that's when I got suspicious. I messaged the girl and she was saying how she was his sister or something and wanted to take over his account. She didn't say anything about his death after that. That was until I decided to look up news reports on his death because I was getting suspicious because who in their right mind would take over their deceased brother's account??
And there was nothing about it. Not one thing. And so I told my friend, and she was getting suspicious. And once we confronted his "sister", it turned out HE never existed and she was some adult girl with a baby trying to pick up on underaged girls to try to get it on with her on ROBLOX. Needless to say we blocked her.

TDLR; DON'T FUCKING ONLINE DATE.

here are some tips to not get targeted by pedos:

1. keep your private information away and if you have vpn, make sure its turned on
2. (your choice) accept friend requests from people you know from real life and not from online(brother, sister, cousins and friends)
3.If you are talking with someone on the internet and they act a bit too suspicious or you are insecure about their behavior, block them and unfriend them.
4.If nr 3 doesn't work ask a parent/guardian for help.
