Red Alert 2: [YR] - Testing Elevation

preview_player
Показать описание
An elevated ground can add plenty advantages in combat in nearly all games. In this video we test what advantages can a unit get in RA2.

Hills, small or big, don't seem to provide any bonuses. The range is still the same and the unit on the lower field doesn't lose any range. Cliffs on the other hand, provide some obvious advantages.

A probably new thing to mention is that air units can't be targeted by anti-air units when being too high due to a structure or an "obstacle". However, an Anti-air structure can still target them.

The memes at the end of each video are always very wholesome.

A couple of tests you could have added to this actually since you were already on the topic: vision range (an idea: a vision focused video) and damage (some games gives damage and vision range bonus to units on high ground). Other than that, great video as always! :)

Curious to see if a Rocketeer / Floating Disc (at various elevations) is able to fire at the Eiffel Tower Kirov

The Dreadnaut's missiles can become a long-range attack that can reach across the map. The best example I can think of is in Red Alert 2, Soviet mission #12. Have a Dreadnaut about 3-4 cells before the cliff on the western part of the map and have them attack the terrain about 3-4 cells behind the cliff. the missiles will sometimes continue cruising until the edge of the map, or until they've hit something.

I was honestly expecting an "I have the high ground" joke.

Thanks for answering my questions, TG!
However at 4:47 I wonder if the tank failed to attack the elevated Kirov because the Kirov was just too far away horizontally rather than vertically (for the sake of testing vertical elevation). For example, I wonder if the tank could attack the Kirov if the Eiffel Tower was beside the cliff?

What happens if you shoot through a hill with a shell unit like a Rhino Tank much like you tried with the Prism Tank, if that's even possible?

On cliffs infantry and everything else may be can shoot over walls even if walls placed on elevation near that infantry, check that out

Hey, TG. I got 3 questions for ya.
1: Which shoots farther - a Siege Chopper or the Grand Cannon? (Be sure to test the SC at all veterancy levels - I don't _think_ veterancy changes the fire distance, but it might)
2: Carriers can be mind-controlled, right? If so, what happens if you mind control a carrier while its hornets are deployed?
3: Don't know if you covered this already, but when it comes to anti-air, who's the best at swatting flies? Hell, that might be a video unto itself (considering there's the IFV and its various forms, the Flak Track, the Gatling Tank, the Patriot Missiles, Gatling Cannon...)
Hope this gives you some material to work with. Can't wait to see your next video!

I have a question, does hill elevation and cliff allow units to shoot over walls and other buildings including the one that can't do so?

sorry for my bad english.
