If you want to know the secrets of flathead fishing, this is the video for you! I'm not big on sharing the stuff that really matters, but for this I'm gonna make an exception. If you wonder how I come up with this stuff, truth be told I think about these things all the time. Bait, location, tackle, gadgets, all can be tweaked and improved to help me, and you, catch more fish. I hope you enjoy the video and good luck flathead fishing!

"Dare I That just struck me as funny, I guess because people are so touchy about them. There's flatheads and blues, EVERYTHING else is BAIT. Period! Great video man!

You're absolutely right man, I live in the Midwest of Illinois and live bait is the best for our flatheads. People tell me all the time cut bait gets it done. Not here. I use live bluegill the most. Great video. 🤙

I don’t know if I just might of figured out why they fight harder than blues for the most part(or the whole part)! If you look back at the first flat you are holding take notice to his/hers gills, they are opening very wide and at a decent rate. I’m trying to convince my self that I’ve never seen a blue open gills like that. They may take in more oxygen at a greater rate when stressed, a hook in your jaw will do that. Oh, and yes on the bait thing. Not saying I always lay to rest a bait before cutting into head and body sections but, I’ve fished(more fished than catched?) with head sections of a Green sunfish for over an hour or more and the dang things are still alive, probably due the fact that I left the essential organs in there. I need a GIANT or a least a moderate specimen! Keep it up Legend! You will be one by the way!

You mentioned Iowa. Are you fishing Iowa here? I live up by Dewitt. How big are these bullheads your using?

I am just getting back into fishing due to a several years long illness. Walking is rough with all my gear but it is worth the pain and effort. Now you come along and give me something else to shoot for. The question I almost forgot...can you buy bullheads in Iowa and use them for bait? I know of a couple ponds where there are a lot of bullheads but it is too hard on my back and hip to walk the quarter mile around to where the bullheads are. Maybe one of these early mornings I will start and get there by late afternoon. I will rest and fish my way around the pond. If they're big enough I will eat them myself. OH, I think I will subscribe. I like your presentation and want to see more. Thanks. Great video.

I LOVE green sunfish because they are easy to properly hook and they’re lively!

I have a 40 gallon cooler, with 2 aerators, in my bass boat. Keeps my bait cool and living Lively all night. If it's a super hot day or night, we throw some ice in there to keep the water slightly chilled. Yeah for sure you really need to have the air stones in there. The bigger the better!

Thanks for the tips. I got one for you. Please share with everyone when I fish bullhead I take fingernail clippers and clip the sharp pins off all three horns that way he is always trying to reposition its self constant liveliness change bait ecmvery couple hours if he were out also that big flat wont spit him out when he clamps down on the bulkhead and only feels softness truer words were never spoken about lively is the best flathead bait if you bait air working hard you have to change it
