It is fine that the end is fixed, not loose, IF you know whether it is built to be correct for inside or outside measurements. I assume outside, otherwise why have a hook? Just don't use it for inside measurements, or know what correction factor to subtract.

I skipped the idiocy of fractional measurements by going metric. 1mm is about 3/64ths. If you think you need to be more precise than 3/64ths, not unless you're a machinist.

The zoomed in image of the tape only shows that it goes to the sixteenth not /32 as you mentioned.

amazing that the dewalt has 1/16 play, but the hook is not 1/16. you are correct, mikwaukee dewalt, etc. are horrible for accurate measurements. they are good for say measuring the width of your driveway.

The tape are too thin on these. Can’t hold it’s own weight

I bought 3 of these FastCap after watching this video. All three have play on the hook just like every cheap measuring tape I have thrown in the trash. What a SCAM.
