Nintendo's newest console is an impressive machine with an outstanding Zelda game, but its success will depend on more games, a solid online experience and access to legacy Nintendo games.

thanks CNET in order for the kickstand to work properly it has to be on a flat surface. now I know why my motorcycle kept going downhill.

Good to know the kickstand needs to be on a hard flat surface to work.

Why does everyone complain about launch?! Its new, of course there isn't gonna be a lot of new games at launch.

Don't see why people are complaining about the pro controller, take a look at the Xbox one elite controller

100% agree. It's going to be a great system and I love the portability but it's not a Day 1 purchase. More likely end of year with Odyssey.

I like your correction by adding the new Indi game news.

Great job Jeff! Its interesting you have to hold it to have portable power attached. Maybe they will sell a 90$ travel dock for on the go.

Games I want in the first two months: Zelda, I am Setsuna, Bomberman R, Fast RMX, Mario Kart, Snake Pass, Blaster Master, Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, and Lego City Undercover. 5 of those ate exclusive. So for me I have hundreds of hours of gaming just on these titles and already want 15 other games down the road. Taking in consideration that I have only bought 7 PS4 games since its launch (been buying Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, PC Engine, N64 and NES games instead due to the garbage getting released on current gen) the Switch is going to be my go to console. A PC and Nintendo console is definitely an idea setup any more in my opinion.

$70 for a controller? You gotta be kidding me....this is exactly what I'm talking about with Nintendo. How can they launch a console without an internet browser or even Netflix? This is 2017 how do they even have the balls to do this?

I want an indepth review on the kickstand. I want to know its specifications, material, how it stands up on various materials (marble countertop, gravel, wood, etc), as well as other potential uses (eg. toothpick, screwdriver, backscratcher). This channel has a huge opportunity in its hands to make a whole new genre of kickstand videos! I for one am looking forward to it.

The only reason why it's 70$ is mainly because of the technology build into it. The Xbox one, and PS4 don't have the advance technology the switch does. But still, they're awesome!

Nice review.... still can't comprehend how is a basic controller 70 bucks. I know Xbox did it with their elite controller... but it's far diff than this "pro" controller. I'll try the joy cons first

A few months ago when the Switch was revealed I thought the concept was brilliant and that it was the perfect product to save Nintendo from its current slump. I'm starting to change my mind a little bit. I mean, I know it will still have some awesome games and have sales way beyond the Wii U, but I also feel like the portable/console hybrid novelty will wear off after a year or two. It's not nearly as portable or easy to carry around as a 3DS, and the battery life when gaming peaks at 2-3 hours, so it doesn't make for a great portable device and it seems awkward as a home console as well. Also the technical achievement doesn't feel nearly as impressive when you realize that Sony had the opportunity to do a very similar product 5 years ago with the PS Vita. All they would've needed to do was build a dock w/hdmi for the Vita, put out a firmware update that allows you to pair the Vita to DS3 and DS4 controllers and right there you have pretty much the exact same product. Also for years now many tablets have had the ability to output to HDMI using a cheap MHL cable (and can also be paired with wireless gamepads), however the feature to connect a tablet to a TV via HDMI is almost never used and most people don't even know or care that their tablet has that ability.

This may sound like a strange idea but why not put the charging port on the top of console and the game card slot on the bottom (have them switch places, no pun intended)
