For me, the pier hotel scene was the most heartbreaking especially near the end of the performance and after it

This was probably the most stressful scene in the movie.

This cover made the movie for me. A punk-grunge version of a pop song that conveyed the emotional turmoil of the character - perfect. (Better in the movie as it starts hard -- min 0:14 -- without the genteel prelude).

2 things I've gleaned from interviews. 1 this song took 27 takes by the time they got all the camera angles and crowd views. 2 this set a record for the largest crowd cast in Britian, 6200 people.

I kinda prefer this version tbh bc it sounds so much more like an actual cry for help

The reason why it’s so sped up is because it’s supposed to show the frustration he feels when nobody remembers the Beatles. And that he’s getting famous for songs that aren’t even his.

Great cover. It's even better when you see him sing it. He brings a lot to it. Love his singing throughout.

I think this version demonstrates beautifully what the original song was meant to be. I wonder what Paul McCartney thinks of it - whether for him, this scene is even more piercing than the visit with 78 year old John.

I love this! Very rare that I like a cover just as much as the original.

I feel like this was a very important part of the movie because it shows that he feels like he is loosing a grip on his life and that the feeling of saying that all of the Beatles songs are slowly tearing him apart.

This was probably my favorite scene in the whole movie in terms of how sad it made me feel.

A great script sets up the perfect combination of story and this song. Jack has lost Ellie. He's being given credit for songs he never wrote. He's lost in despair. Take the song "Help, " arrange it in the angst of grunge and add the lyric that perfectly fits the story, "When I was younger, so much younger than today, I never needed anybody's help in any way, But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured, Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down, And I do appreciate you being round, Help me get my feet back on the ground, Won't you please, please help me."

Take those elements, add a super tight band, top with a desperate, great vocal and you have the perfect blend of story and song.

This was the scene in the movie that gave me goosebumps. In fact, it turned the movie from slow, plodding, and dull to... giving just a hint of the excitement created by the Beatles. And what excitement it was. It's possible that in a hundred years, or a thousand, the Magic-in-a-Bottle captured by the Beatles will be repeated. But more likely, never.

Did no one feel uncomfortable during this part? Like I almost felt bad for him...
