This is a great way to set up the Dagestani double or the Dagestani single, or sometimes go right into a dagestani trip to attack Dagestani submissions.

I once took a Dagestani Step after a another. They were similar to any normal steps, but after the name change I felt much more proud of my walking.

One thing to note here: it's very important to make this drag one smooth motion, do not get caught struggling right after the arm drag, and if your opponent fights it off successfully, turn away slightly and the quickly rotate back and drag him HARD a second time to force the position - if you don't, you risk getting your leg grabbed and getting dumped. What I mean is this: after the grip and pull on the same-side arm, you see that the instructor steps in and his left leg ends up tight against the opponent's right leg. However, you also notice that the dragged arm is VERY close to the instructor's knee - if you do not IMMEDIATELY move around towards the back and drag him down to finish the takedown, there is a real possibility of the opponent getting a grip on the knee from the inside, even connecting his other hand as well, if he throws his right leg back and steps forward with the left he can do it even easier while turning into you and defending the takedown - if he can do this and then posture up while yanking on that leg, he can flip you over on your back, rotating his torso to face you on the way down - he can also use his right leg to trip the instructor's far leg while pulling up on the close (left) one, making the dump to the back even easier (or, posture up hard and step in to trip with the left leg while turning towards the instructor the whole time, same result). worst case, you end up on your back with the opponent in side control.

I don't know what I like more, the content or the fact that this video told me everything I need to know in less than 90 seconds. I wish every video was like this.

I mean... sure the dagastani mma guys use this but so do most grappler everywhere, it's just an arm drag. But I guess putting dagastani in the title helps with the algorithm

Detail with getting the shoulder behind theirs as the focus/secure spot to me was very interesting and helpful. I will start to implement that change in my arm drag attempts.

Thank you so much. Your channel is going to have a positive impact on a lot of grapplers.

I used this exact same drag in highschool and until I was scouted on film by other teams it worked like a charm out of it I could go 3 ways, attack the hips, heel hook and trip or capture the near single leg, if your opponent comes to expect it from you, it is easily countered.
Not knocking it and it is a good alternate to direct convential leg attacks.

I like throwing knees and always had a fear of shooting for the legs because i know how my mind works for someone shooting for the legs. When i started doing this to incorporate grappling and takedowns my wrestling improved greatly. Strikers take note, this is a game changer.

I always left too much space and they got the underhook on me. Good detail with the shoulder position. Good video.

😮 You do a snap to turn the corner, I've never seen that taught before! I always just saw step and grab, this is gold
