I read the books of The Vampire Diaries before watching the show, and I was disappointed to see that the relationship between Stefan and Elena had been changed. In the books, Stelena is the main couple, and their relationship is much stronger and more lasting than in the show. I think Julie Plec gave in to the pressure of Delena fans, and that was a mistake. Stelena was the perfect couple for Elena, and I'm still disappointed that they didn't end up together.
