Thanks so much for this video John, I work with a lawn care company and people ask me how to get grass going. I have told hundreds of people about this video and it has made my life that much easier. This is by far the easiest and still get amazed when I go back on lawns 20, 48, 60 days later. Some lawns you can't even tell.

Pro Tip: don't skimp on seed! Plan to use a 5, 000sqft bag of seed for 2-2.5k.

I tried this with peat moss and a bucket. Took four days to germinate and less than a week later I've got an inch of grass where I applied it (and gently watered regularly). Absolutely blown away by how simple and effective this was. A+ tip.

That is a great idea. I have the best lawn in my neighborhood, because I'm crazy about lovely bright beautiful green grass so I really appreciate this tip. Thank you!

We followed this technique and it WORKED so well! Thank you! We used miracle grow as our top soil and it grew so lush!

This is perfect 👌🏻 thank you so much. I'm a first time home owner and although the developer planted grass it still came in patchy in some spots. I was just about to throw seeds on top without any sawdust or letting it germinate.

Love this idea, I've been starting seed on ground with a little bit of top cover dirt and it takes like almost 2 weeks to get a decent growth. Pre-germinating like that will help.

Good tips. I like the idea of letting the seed germinate in the wheelbarrow before you put it out. Then, it is ready to run. I need to try this in a few places. One of the problems I have is with seed washing away after it is put out. This would really help with that.

Fast growth! Holy cow! I’m looking at 2 plus weeks and lecturing 3 kids to stay OFF the grass lol! Thank you! Saving me time and money - now off to Lowe’s. 💕🤷🏻‍♀️😊

Thank you for this video. I watched this when it came out but finally put it to use this spring. I used potting soil instead of sawdust but it worked like a charm. Thanks again for quality videos.

Figures, I just patched my lawn on Sunday... Grubs devoured parts of my once beautiful lawn. I'm sure I'll need this method in the fall when even more dead roots reveal themselves. Thanks for the tips.

I need to get this going tomorrow!! Selling our house and have some bald spots! Thanks!!

Jon, the reason you tip works so well for me in my part of Oregon is the birds will get the seeds before they germinate if I don't do it like your tip. Kudos for another get tip!

Great tip! One caution - sawdust from some woods (eg, black walnut, hickory, butternut and pecan) contain juglone which is a natural defoliant that will inhibit growth of grass.

Thanks a lot it does a great job. I used peat most like you said.

I have a big dog who leaves me with burn spots so this was a good, quick tip. I can see you on TV as the "Quick-Tip Lawn Guy." Talk to your local news station, they will probably give you a few minutes for the landscape/gardening audience. It's really big right now.

Jon, when germinating do you leave the seed/sawdust untouched for the 5-7 days? Once you've laid this where you want the grass to grow, how often do you water? 2-3 times a day in those spots?
