In the chemo ward even the best veins don’t participate so they kept semi retired nurses rotating through and I swear it was just like this. A woman in her late 80s, wearing two jackets and about three blankets would roll up to you on her stool and get it on the first try while simultaneously guilting you into eating. It was epic.

Shoutout to all the nurses that look at veins and get excited when they're visible

I’m always like, “Don’t be a hero. Call in the one who can do it.”

I love being the gangster nurse they call for tough ones. That is one of the only things I actually take pride in.

My mom is a nurse and used to be the clinical coordinator for the ER she worked at, I had to go in once and was SUPER dehydrated, all the nurses tried getting my IV in and couldn’t. My mom wasn’t even working, she was just with me, she had to give me my IV 😂 so proud my mom was the badass

For anyone who doesn’t know, I had to look it up lol, RRT nurse stands for “rapid response team nurse” and after reading all they do… well let’s just say this is THE most accurate and hilarious portrayal ❤️

Literally no one I’m my local hospital gets me first time I’m severely anemic and malnutrition but this one bald gay Asian man appears when I was was half awake and puts it in pats my head and says to have a nice day and basically flies away. He was the nicest ever when he came to check on me and comforted me after I had breakdown. Bless him

This lives rent free in my head way more than it should. I’m not a nurse. I don’t work in the medical field, but the way you portray the RRT nurse with so much confidence. 🤩

The best nurse who ever took my blood said the reason she was so good is because she practiced on herself. When she used to work in corrections she said those male prisoners were all tough until it came to getting a shot or IV, and she wanted to make sure she got it right.

This happened to me 😂 they’d run out of places to stick me when I’d been in the hospital for 5 days and they even brought in that machine that shows your veins and they still couldn’t. They called one of the nurses who took my blood earlier after I insisted and she got it first try. They were so rude to her so I made a big deal about telling her how amazing she is and how happy I was to have a nurse as skilled and kind as her

I'm a phlebotomist working in a hospital and when my team start our morning rounds, it's kinda wholesome seeing all the hopeful happy faces of the nurses running up to us with a list of difficult patient bleeds for us to do as well. Makes me feel so good to know I'm needed there by such an amazing and capable team of nurses 💕

RRTs are the real MVPs. Got stabbed 5 times and yelled at by the nurse for not being hydrated, I finally told her to get someone who can get the needle in. RRT popped in and got it in easily. I don’t remember your name lady, but you saved me a great deal of pain. ❤

I’d appreciate you calling in someone else vs continuing to try and making me look like I’ve been shooting up

Once had a nurse do my blood draw so perfectly I didn’t even feel a slightest poke
IT WAS GLORIOUS

Heard this from a senior radiographer in my department. Had a prisoner patient come for an MRI and no one could get a working vein. The patient protested the whole time and said they knew where their own good veins were, they were afterall incarcerated for drug abuse. After much relenting, they gave them the IV and of course the patient got it in the first time on a tiny vein!
