If the chao is in the death cocoon, you can leave the room, run back in, and then try to pick the chao up before it cocoons, then rock that chao gently until its super happy and reincarnates instead Xd Might take a few tries to catch it, but you CAN save them!

I will never forget the intense emotions I felt when my favorite Chao went into the white Death Cocoon, my immediate instinct was to leave the Garden to stop it.
Then I rushed back in and tried to pick her up, to comfort her, and rekindle her will to live. I spent maybe an hour doing this, until finally her cocoon turned pink. I broke down in tears and vowed to myself that I would NEVER let my Chao be sad again.

Growing up, I had a Chao called Boxy (I got him a box). I loved him so much but as I was very young I didn't know how to properly care for him and he died... I was so upset because I had spent so much time with him.

I remember as a kid I put a Chao in the GBA thing and clicked "Goodbye" and I nearly started crying because of the music and the way the chao looked looking backwards at you :((((
