The Bell AH-1Z Viper is a twin-engine attack helicopter, based on the AH-1W SuperCobra, designed and produced by the American aerospace manufacturer Bell Helicopter. Being one of the latest members of the prolific Bell Huey family, it is also called "Zulu Cobra", based on the military phonetic alphabet pronunciation of its variant letter.

Back in the 1980's, working on Hueys, Cobras & OH-58s, we used to gab about some of the "engineering" and "design constraints" of the different aircraft, the worst tasks to do and the ones we hated doing. Occasionally, when someone was using various adjectives while doing one of their "favorite" tasks, I'd say "well, they're supposed to change that design on the Z Model, " or, "maybe by the time the Z Model comes out..." Well, I'm happy to see that the Cobra finally made it to the Z Model. 😊

The AH-1 Cobra was one of our best friends along with the UH-1's. Saved our ass's several times during TET 1968. I have a very high respect for those birds and the men that flew them.

The awesome thing about American made equipment is that the equipment is so good and has such great service that over the years, it does NOT need a replacement of any kind. The equipment only needs upgrades with TECHNOLOGY.

That about says it all for the "quality" of American military equipment and products.

My Grandmother worked for Bell a tidge before I was born. 52 years later and her passing, I'm still a Bell fan. The s model was my favorite for long time til w stole my heart

Look, I know it looks like a great helicopter and all (don't call it a chopper. A chopper is a motorcycle) but anyone who has never worked on one of these has no idea how big of a nightmare this thing is. Don't get me wrong, I think they do an outstanding job and I loved every minute of being a part of this airwing community, but maintenance is a huge part of why these aircraft are so effective and when the maintenance takes forever to complete because the design of these beasts has made the simplest maintenance task ridiculously difficult then the overall effectiveness of the aircraft is diminished.

Marines don't have much by it's very nature but what they do have is the best and absolutely badass! MARSOC is on par with SEALs, Viper fighter chopper, F-35B verticle land and take off multi purpose fighter jet, A-10 Warthog, world's best infantry, world's best sniper school and a simple uniform that's sharp as a tac!
