ppm signal from an arduino and an old joystick

UPDATE : i made a post on RCGroup with the last version of the source code here :
---------------------------------------------------

Arduino board read joystick potentiometers values, convert them into a 6 channel PPM signal and send it to the RC Tx (module's coming from a T9x)

Inside the joystick, there's only potentiometers. Left and right pins of each potentiometers are connected to +5V and ground, and the center pin to an analogic arduino's input (starting from A0 to A5, so 6 ways).

The output signal can be connected (with a 100nF capacitor) to any TX module, like Dragon Link, EzUHF, frsky, dsm2... Futaba may need small changes in the source code (negative pusle), but i'm not positive about that !

This is freaking awsome! Whats it like flying with the joystick vs a remote control?

Wow, nice work...really wanting to do this! I have an old Saitek x-45 that I think may work with this....do you have a diagram of all the connections?

Thundergras, I want to do the same thing with a ground station using ArduPilotMega. Flight Controller. I think it would also be really nice to do this in the field, a stand up version that you wear. One would pull it on like a back pack with arm rests.  I have the 9X with the Er9X mod. I have tried numerous times to acquire data on this matter and I am surprised I haven't found your vid. I think that it would be better to have the simplest of sticks with one of them having a three position switch on it. Maybe even do it with blue tooth or Near Field RF that wouldn't interfere with Tx.
I also wanted to ask you what the resolution was like. As good or better than using the sticks on the 9X?  Would you be able to assist me with some info as well?
I would really appreciate the helping hand, I am just starting up with small electronics and Arduino. I am drowning in data as I get this Quad / Hex with FPV ready for a maiden.

that is mint! now make a whole flight chair, no need for ejactculation seat tho.

Hi, excellent project. I'm doing exactly the same with the X52 PRO. How did you connect the Arduino pin that outputs the PPM to the PPM input in your 9X module ? Is it a direct connection, some current limiting resistor maybe ?

hi. i did the same as you with the code that you shared in rc group but it didnt worked :(. do the potentiometers of the sticks need a special value? for the testing y used a ppm usb adapter but it didnt created any signal.
