This example is for transferring the car from family member to yourself so steps might be slightly different if it's not from a family member! Also, this is a CT example, state laws may vary but this can be used as a starting point-

I should have looked this video up 3 years ago lol I’ve been paying for my truck but it was under my dad’s name. We actually went to try and refinance the truck to add my name but neither of our credit was good enough to keep the apt down so we just didn’t do anything with it.

Question, so recently I’ve been paying someone else is car that I’m currently using “Family friend” it’s value at 22 thousand n I only need 9 more to go. Do you happen to know what I would need to do in my situation? When I bought my car my mother bought it with me because her credit was better and we got a lower interest rate. The car is now paid off, no lien on the title, and we have title in hand. Both of our names are on the title but hers is first (there is no "and" or "or" - just her name and then mine below it). Now that the car is paid off, we want to remove her name and have it titled solely to me. Plot twist, I now live in a different state. The car is registered in my mom's state but I have moved. Would she have to come all the way to the DMV in my state to do this since my name is already on the title? Seems like she should be able to just sign something saying she wants her name off the title.
