Five survivors have been found by Egyptian rescuers during a Red Sea search operation after a tourist boat carrying 44 people sank on Monday.

Four bodies have been recovered and another seven people are still missing. A total of 33 people have been rescued so far.

The victims' identities have not yet been disclosed by authorities.

The four-deck modern vessel is understood to have capsized after hitting a large wave near Marsa Alam, Egypt.

They sailed despite coast guard warnings not to go as a storm was coming in. Greed was what caused the sinking of the boat.

Really was negligence by the captain/crew. It was known a bad weather system was moving into the region at the time.

Amazing that those 5 could've survived in such claustrophobic conditions and kudos, of course, to the rescuers who got them out.

The Sea Story did not have a ship stabilization system like a gyroscope in the hull. There is no way the ship could have capsized by being hit with a big wave if the ship had a ship stabilization system like a gyroscope in the hull. The tourists should sue the boat owners for criminal negligence.

Them survivors are so lucky. Should be thanking they're lucky stars they weren't in that water...Red Sea is infested with Tiger Sharks.

Been there done that. Our rudder hit the coral reef and made a hole in the hull. Also a tourist trip in shocking weather. Huge waves and a storm. Coast guard couldn't reach us till after the storm. So all the men had to sit on the net of the catamaran while the crew were using buckets to try get rid of the water. Lots of praying going on and tears from women and kids. Eventually when the worst of the storm subsided rescue boats came from all directions. Also no life jackets. This was Mauritius. 😢 we got back safely with all the tourists . Just awful to think these things are still happening when it is totally irresponsible of the Captain snd crew.

The water where the boat sank was only 12m deep. Why didn't they swim to the surface?

Ich war zudem Zeitpunkt auch dort. Und bei uns wurde die Schnorcheltour aufgerund des schlechten Wetters abgesagt und verschoben. Wieso ist diese Yacht bei diesem Wetter überhaupt raus gefahren ? Es war das 2te Unglück dieses Jahres von dem selben betreiber. Er gehört angeklagt und hinter Gitter.
Es muss so schrecklich gewesen sein für die Leute die noch vermisst werden.... so möchter keiner sterben.
Mein Mitgefühl an die Familien. R.I.P. 😢

They shouldn’t have sailed if they knew there was bad weather coming. The safety in Egypt is poor, we went when our kids were little to Sharm and they didn’t have any life jackets for them. I refused to get on the boat with them until the staff went and got some life jackets.
