❓ About This Episode: Last year we released a video outlining the RV roof modification that many campers have been performing for years. The modification involves using Eternabond Roof Seal to permanently seal your self-leveling lap sealant in order to prevent on-going roof resealing. Well, it has been a year, and everyone wants to know if this modification works. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe!

Well researched and informative video. I get that a few people won’t like the way it looks, but I couldn’t give a shit what my roof looks like if it was all sealed up. Besides, I think it looks good. As if lap sealant looks good anyway.

Makes you wish Eternabond made entire RV roofs. I’d pay a few hundred extra for a roof that lasts 15-30 years with no leaks. Good video, thanks!

Eternabond is legit. Used it on my roof 10 years ago, and it's still going strong.

You should always round off your corners on your patches because the corner edges will peel up first.

I have an awning that was showing age from sun damage and hail. I put a 6" strip over the top of the awning with it rolled up. Has been a year and still holding strong. Cheaper than a new awning and the rest of the awning is in good shape. I'm considering doing this even to a new awning.

I suggest every RV keep a small roll of it around for emergency repairs. It is a great product for patching scrapes and punctures in to your roof, or anything that you want to keep water out of. I have used to it to patch many things.
In fact I have the remnants of a roll from 2005 and used ~5 in sq to patch a small hole and the tape was still good. It's been more than 2 years since that patch and it is still holding.

Great video, thank you. I decided to go for it last year after your initial video and couldn’t be happier… surface prep work is key as always…

I've found rounding the cuts instead of cutting square not only looks better but is easier to press down.

I have only had eternabond fail on an area where I stretched it a bit. Where not stretched it has lasted many years.

My family is looking into getting our first RV. Our budget demands a pre-owned one, and have a few prospects in mind.
This video and the one before, are an amazing bit of help. I will, for darn sure be looking into Eternabond sealing the roof of our future RV.
Thank you!

Great review Ross! I think this type of follow up video is even more impactful than the install. Actually got me thinking to jump up on the roof and go to work. 😂 Side note... those are some nice, straight lines with the tape. Great job.

I used the eternabond webseal tape over everything like yours and then coated the entire roof with 2 coats of hengs. From what I read the webseal is meant to be used with coatings. Has held up well for year and half so far.

Good follow-up video. I had already applied Eternabond to my front and back seams. Have now followed your idea of applying it to my other seams. Great stuff.

Great videos. I have been working on rvs for nearly 5 years now and agree with your techniques including using self leveling lap sealant on any leading edges of the tape just as a barrier from anything eventually working it’s way into that leading edge. If I may suggest when removing a penetration of the roof (ie vent) I found an oscillating tool with a knife edge blade inserted careful not to puncture the roofing material works well to remove old sealant in mass as well as a narrow putty knife with the corners rounded. As far as cleaning anything I use an orange oil based cleaner after Oxiclean for heavy organic dirt. The best product for cleaning stuck on glue is rapid remover on a semi-saturated small rag to soften and eventually remove any glue residue. It’s pricey, but, very effective if you allow it to work for you.
