What an amazing video. I found some oil for a wahl beard trimmer and one drop where you said was the magic touch. My power supply was louder than my tv volume and I couldn’t stand it. Now I can’t hear anything but the game! Thanks fellas

Good video, but I heard that hitting the brick with your hand a few times can actually stop the loud sound.

2020 now, better be glad you moved! Thanks for the video, was going to buy one because I thought the brick was burning down. After I oiled it I wasn't sure it was even working because it was so quiet!

Originally I just cleaned the fan and it was still loud, so I grabbed the oil for my electric razor and added it and voila! Much appreciated, my wife was getting very annoyed when I was trying to play games and she was doing school work lol

Old video, but just wanted to say you saved my sanity. I had a aftermarket power source with a different fan, but I was able to shimmy some oil in there and bring the noise down 3 fold. Keep it up!!

Kid: Only an idiot would leave it plugged into the wall
Dad: Son... You're going to have a rough time dealing with people in life

Hello guys, as a fellow who had the same issue but just cleaning doesn't fix it. I have a suggestion that worked for me, the problem isn't in the fan, it's the plastic that holds it it gets loose by the heat overtime. So what I did is I added a piece of paper to the plastic to stick it in place tightly, and now it's super quiet that I don't believe it. Hope it works for you.

You can also poke a hole through the tab and pry it up. Easy as hell and you can do it with anything small enough

Mine was making noise. It wasn't too bad, just enough to notice it when everything else was already shut down for the night. I noticed the oil you used. You probably already have this available if you've ever bought an electric razor or clippers. It's used to oil the blades. I did the disassembly and oiled the fan shaft. Still a tiny bit of noise, but then again, I'm used to the silence of Noctua fans. Also, these are very similar to the fans found in laptops. Could probably find something more silent after market.

Good ol Ky jelly fixed it for me. Just had to put a small drop underneath the green sticker. I couldn’t get the fan blades to come out like in the video.

I’m honestly too lazy to fix this, can I just ignore the noise or will it mess up my console? I’m mainly just worried about my Xbox

Thank you for this tutorial, one question: can't you just leave the small fan unplugged ? I mean does that tiny fan prevent the brick from melting ? What would happen ?

I took power block housing apart, blew the fan out like an old NES cartridge and put it all back together... might have just worked for me but it saves a lot of hassle with the difficult steps of taking apart fan housing/assembly... greasing it might attract more dust inside finer components. I'm not here to disprove anything you have recommended, just my theories. Thank you

Okay so mine isn’t exactly making a noise, but my Xbox is turning off on its own. Now I originally thought that it was over heating so I put a fan in it and it was still shutting off. Then I thought maybe the power brick is bad, so I narrowed my roommates brick and it worked great, then I switched back to my brick and it was turning off again. Not only that but every time it turned off, it burnt out the electrical socket. That it was plugged into, so now I can’t use use those sockets on that extension. What is happening? Is this something beyond repair???

I'm on my second brick, and it's a Ponkor. Followed your instructions and was able to get everything done, but the removal of the Fan to add the lubricant. Put it back together, but now the Xbox isn't sending a signal to my TV. Any thoughts?

So I assume white lithium grease or in your case, the sewing machine lubricant, is non conductive or whatever and won’t cause a fire hazard? Lol...
Thanks for the video!
